that, technically speaking, players can be suspended for bowling no-balls...
that henceforth any team that score slowly in two overs when they should be looking to 'up the ante' shall invite immediate investigation by icc...
that an unknown journalist's word carries more weight in icc's eye than the president of an associate board...
finally... icc is willing to run cricket at the whim and fancy of tabloids...
what i learnt from pakistan's tour of england...

pakistan bowlers vs indian batsmen
shared by straight point on Wednesday, September 01, 2010
i was reading this article from aakash chopra... what makes pakistan produce so many fast bowlers...? and suddenly this thought came to my mind...
it may sound simplistic... but i feel... since pakistan produces so many fast bowlers... they tend to crush the budding batsmen confidence in very early stage hence we see few pakistan batsmen cross the hurdle and flourish...
but since india do not produce quality pace bowlers that much... the budding batsmen of india do not face same searching questions like pak batsmen hence we see them prosper more...
explains the famous adage that pakistan produces great fast bowlers while india the batsmen...?
exactly what fawad alam has done...

...to invite so much of euphoria as if he is paksitan cricket's next messiah...
almost every one from pakistan is demanding his inclusion and even former pakistan players are questioning his absence from team pakistan's test xi...
this made me wonder as well as curious about him...so i did bit 'cricinfo' on him...
lets have a look at his batting and bowling record till date...
so while his 'all round' record in one day international matches are clearly anything but impressive...can someone please explain why he is worth that much hoopla about him...?
why so much 'fussaad' on fawad...?
one defeat it took...

for malik to lash out akhtar openly in media...
its not that akhtar was bowling great in the previous match pak won against lanka...but one defeat and now newspaper are filled with malik having a go at akhtar...
its also not that akhtar is known very well for his team spirit or his commitment for full 50 overs...he has done it in past and will do it in future as well...when you select him in your team...its given that he will come with 'package'...take it or leave it...so whats new now...?
whatever be the justification or grudge of malik...i am against this very act of captain going in media over issues that can be sorted out in team meetings...if he don't want akhtar in team due to his commitment towards team or for his non-performances...fine with that...but what purpose it solves other than that he wants to wash his hands off from defeat...opposition team getting the whiff that not all is good in pak team and hence using it to their advantage in next match...and what about dressing room atmosphere or more appropriately team spirit...?
he has put undue pressure not only on akhtar (if at all he is selected for next match) but also on other players who will feel insecure about captain going in public if they do not perform to the required level...which can happen...
all in all this is certainly not the way to deal with issues...and it just enhanced my impression of malik that he still has long way to go as far as captaining a team goes...
Miss-ba Pakistan?
shared by straight point on Wednesday, July 02, 2008
there have been discussions with our pak friends of late...about the lack of options for pak team captaincy candidate...
i would like to stuck my neck out even before i have seen him captain...

Caught in a Wrong Job?

if ever there was proof required...yesterday's match sealed the case for me...
i am certain now that shoaib is pathetically regressive captain at his best...
teams have and will score 330 against you but the way he led his team...left only one desire...
PCB should get rid of him ASAP...
Test Cricket Health...

another boring draw on dead pitch and the knives are out...
every other voice is either mourning the death of test cricket or seeing it...
but to me test cricket is already in bad shape...
before you jump on me with already out knives...
please wait a moment...
zimbabwe aren't playing test cricket...i doubt (no, fear) they will...
bangladesh resolutely sticking to infancy level...
nz is exploring new lows every time they play test...
...and west indies ensuring there is a tough competition with nz even for this...
pak is either seeing tours getting canceled or busy issuing threats of doing same...
SL had most thrilling test series in oz where they at last found a man who can stand against them...
england recently invented a new cure of insomnia...but still won next best 'ashes' defeating nz...
pretty 'good' health i must say...isn't it...?
