He seems another version of Malik. No spine.

straight point said...

why OTT...please care to elaborate...

Viswanathan said...

yet to convince himself that he is captaincy material.

i think mis-ba is beta version of Malik.

This beta version is though insecure but surely have patched many bugs in pak team.

straight point said...

i think the way things are run in pak...one cant be blame missbah for this...OTT

straight point said...

CG

i think you got it absolutely right...he is beta-v-malik minus bugs...

Picking Misbah for captaincy, other things remaining the same will ruin another Pak cricketer. That aside, in a properly managed framework, he might do a little better than Malik. I won't expect anything magical from him, though.

Most people dont agree with me but I think Shoaib Malik has potential to be better. They need to stick with him for a while.

Misbah has got nerve and brain and can be a potential captain but its too early to think about right now. He needs to work on being the dependable batsman that the Paki team needs seeing the closing out of the great careers of Yousuf and Younis.

ya i agree with you UTP but do not agree one thing.

Everyone has potential and that who is able to present his potential is a great.

So, i think Misbah is currently a player which is good for pak rather putting Malik into Cricket Action.

I think they can have Misbah at least as media captain. He's better than Malik in award ceremonies!

straight point said...

VM...spot on...he seems to be clear of what he wants and what he will get...

straight point said...

UTP...the problem with malik is that he doesn't inspire a bit...through his mannerism, body language...they way he conduct himself and the team...

while on other hand missbah seems very clear in his thought and what he wants to be...and better batsmen too...

if misbah is persisted as a full time captain, it will be another loss for pakistan, similar to wat happened with malik.

malik was a decently good player, but with captaincy thrown at him, when he still hadnt earned that sorta respect, ruined the player in him.

misbah can be the micheal bevan for pakistan, only if he is nurtured well, and captaincy may just ruin him.

though it must be said, that misbah, a student of management has a sound head on his shoulders.

straight point said...

yes CG...as things stands now...any one...virtually anyone can be better than malik...

straight point said...

no one could have put it better than you SOM...being media person himself...you definitely have the EYE... :)

straight point said...

ankit...you never know until you take the plunge and decide to take bull by horns...

as you have said he possess cool and composed mind...that is half the battle won for me...

besides, being management student doesn't hurt your chances a bit...to succeed i.e.

Anonymous said...

management studies just teach you theoritically how to handle the battle and win but doeen't give tool to succeed.

Misbah you have to develop a weapon of win through the books of management which has presented the solutions in a distinct and unique way. (I am management student)

straight point said...

as i said CG...knowledge itself is a good tool...its how you practice in real life makes the different...

its like a gun in you hand...you can impose yourself or...you can shoot yourself too...tool remain same...

Anyone has to be better than Malik? Yesterday's fitness test was appalling. He jogged a little bit and then lay down (unless the TV coverage was truncated). Why go through the test if you are that unwell? As a captain you should be able to judge your own fitness along with your team's?

Anonymous said...

@ RS.

I dont why he allowed his fitness test. When you are sure you are not fit then this type of test are useless.

The person who cannot even walk, how one can play the cricket and more how one can manage the team itself. It would be better to give captaincy to misbah for some time and if any great player comes in this way put the crown to him.

Gaurav Sethi said...

Unlike Shoaib, Misbah sabka Malik hai.

straight point said...

welcome RS...

thanks for dropping by...hope you will keep visiting... :)

a very good point raised...

yes, i was also perplexed about so called fitness test...when you are so unwell why would you go for the test...and what the dam authorities were thinking when they conducted it...

it definitely is more than what meets the eye...

may be the wanted malik to collapse altogether for their own good ;-)

straight point said...

miss-bah malik then Gaurav?

Anonymous said...

@ SP who is gaurav.

Anonymous said...

sorry got it. It is Naked Cricket (Gaurav)

Sabka Misbha Malik. (Doesn't suit it)
Sabka Malik Misbha. (100% Perfect)

Q said...

As always i've given my thoughts on Well Pitched.

I am cent percent behind Misbah.

I anyone had any doubts, they should have been cleared with last nights game.

He surely is the man.

He commands the authority, the respect, and lives up to what he says.

Definitely more spine than Malik. Though I agree that Malik's hands are tied down due to a lot of things but Misbah has the ability to tie others hands down cause he has delivered.

straight point said...

but Misbah has the ability to tie others hands down cause he has delivered...

exactly what i was trying to say about your malik vs chairman post Q...

if you deliver then everything falls into place...

i dont want to demean malik...but misbah is more savvy, highly educated and it does help the way you react...behave and the way you react to challenges the game throws at you...

Q said...

Spot on SP!

thanQ !!

Completely disagree Ottayan Misbah is not spineless, the only difference between Malik and Misbah is that Misbah will not try to hide behind others, he does not lack confidence, where as Malik lacks self confidence whether it is his bowling or batting.
Whenever you will pick an out of form or a lessor player as a captain this is going to happen.

Jrod said...

I believe he is called Misbah cricket.

He struck the bulls eye yesterday,
but lets talk about the Indian team a little bit, What happened to them I am sure Kitply was a fluke for Pakistan as many suggested, but what happened to the Indian bowling yesterday?
Why Dhoni is so insecure that he plays with 8 batsmen against Pakistan on a flat pitch?

Any thoughts!

straight point said...

i agree with you wasim...

he is far from person that can be called spineless don't know what OTT know which we don't know to call him that...anyway...sometimes we agree to disagree...

straight point said...

yes uncle...he was almost missbah cricket but for T20 worldcup...

straight point said...

wasim...

i agree with you in this too...dhoni has been bit defensive of late...but you cant blame for him...

both pathan can be called all rounders in ODIs at least its another matter that they are not doing justice to their talent...

the only interesting thing which came out from last ind-pak encounter was that we discovered our own afridi in yusuf pathan...

Anonymous said...

ok SP.

I think you mean a bowler Yusuf Pathan like Shahid Afridi.

Both are doing just their half work with bowl and leaving half with the bat.

straight point said...

welcome NI!!

i meant the 'bastman' like afridi...the way he played the shot was characteristically similar to afridi...

Anonymous said...

well SP let clarify i am member of CricketGod Team only. But put a title Neno Indian because i have blog on cricket at http://blogs.cricketgod.com/nenoindian/ which i started recently only.

But as a point, i think what yusuf hitted over the top of the ground was something different. Did you remember that in IPL boundaries where shorted by 5 to 10 Meters so has to allow batsman to hit more top over the ground.

Yes you are correct yousuf is similar to Afridi. Both have powers but they are failing in transforming that power into a good shot at right place.

straight point said...

you have said it Hitesh!

they both lack the brains...yousuf for sure will curse that shot coz if he gets dropped from the team i don't see him making comeback such is the jam of talent...

Anonymous said...

yes for yousuf this could be end. You cannot come back on your own ability but have to depend on other performance.

Allready all batsman are in form. Sachin is yet to back so no chance for you brother. Just wait and watch

Anil Singh said...

Younis Khan, Md. Yousuf and Afridi, seem other choices too.
But Younis seems too political for the job, Yousuf is more concerned about ecclestial matters.
What do you think of Afridi, can he be given a chance?

Misbah although has shown lion heart on several occasions, and he behaves as if he is in the team for a decade, I have no info regarding his captaincy skills.
So why do you think he can lead his country?
