Caught in a Wrong Job?

if ever there was proof required...yesterday's match sealed the case for me...

i am certain now that shoaib is pathetically regressive captain at his best...

teams have and will score 330 against you but the way he led his team...left only one desire...

PCB should get rid of him ASAP...

Listless is the word I use to describe Shoaib's captaincy.

PCB unfortunately has no other options.

Malik is a Spineless Coward,he gave up bowling for a mysterious shoulder problem, he changes his batting order at will to avoid pressure situations, so that he is not exposed as a batsman, he should be really batting at #3, the best way to get your confidence back is to face your demons and challenge your skills, his score of 53 was meaningless.

The current team is a loose band of rogue players where each senior member has his own agenda they don't play like a team and against good teams the performance of some senior players has been consistently stupid at best. Younis Khan is the prime culprit he throws away his wicket with no remorse its not that he can't bat we all know he can,Afridi's mindless aggression and failure to play a long innings or an innings according to the situation diminishes his value as a quality player,he never has any match awareness.

Misbah's unorthodox but high risk shots have failed him time and again he is not willing to play proper cricket shots.

I have no problem with the bowlers they should be backed by the fielders and the keeper and if the captain of the team handles his bowlers intelligently I still believe we have one of the best bowling attack in the world. Malik mishandled Riaz completely, he used him as a sacrificial goat.

The Pakistan team never has a plan when they are bowling, Pakistan can never beat the top three teams unless they get a quality all rounder and another quality spinner.Their current combination is not good enough.

I would tend to disagree on that. I think there are some unknown reasons why Afridi cannot be taken out of the lineup and also Kamran Akmal who has been pathetic...behind the stumps...

Malik has got potential to be a better captain and his batting has improved...

Once the politics go out...and Malik has more authority...he will make things happen...but I dont think that will ever happen...

Afridi, Akmal need to be thrown out....SOON...rest all will fall in place...

I'm not sure about his future as captain-- assuming he has one. But Malik was, to borrow a Sidhuism, as clueless as a toddler in a topless bar...he seems to have retired into a cocoon and afraid of asserting himself in front of his seniors.

No one could have put it more simply than that SP.

Malik definitely needs to be shed of his duties.

You need a strong captain to get the best out of you. Take a look at Akmal's performance for Shane Warne.

Afridi is a bowler, he can't be expected to play innings according to the situation. If he is to be dropped from the side, a spinner will replace him, not a batsman. From the looks of it the spinner could be Fawad Alam or Danish Kaneria or mnaybe even Abdul Rahman.

I would chose Afridi over the rest any day.

Malik definitelt needs to bat at 3. Why do all these batsman move down the order whne they become captain?

Younis Khan is the 1st one who needs a kick out of the team.

With him out a specialist opener can come in and allow Akmal to bat lower down and concentrate on his primary job as a keeper.

could not agree more Wasim!!

if he cant assert himself being captain...then better it should be handed to a someone else...

but the real q is who is ready to walk in the mess??

straight point said...

if things are that easy...UTP...

Malik behaves like the man who has resigned to his fate and waiting for someone to end misery...

straight point said...

ThanQ...

poor lad...some one should end his misery...at leat pak will get good batsman out of it...if not all rounder he used to be...

exactly....som

but why pcb is allowing it to happen is mystery to me...

Q can you shed some light on this?

Its a mystery to me as well SP and Som.

We all knew that when Malik was made captain the seniors, i.e. Yousuf, Younis, Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Razzak had a problem with it.

All the seniors publicly stated that they will support Malik but that didn't happen. Apart from Afridi to some extent, who is a team man.

The rest are playing for themselves.

Malik it too gentle / meek a character to stamp his authority...

hmmm...you are right Q...

it seems they are running in all directions but one...

I think Shoaib does not get the environment to express and assert himself. He's an intelligent cricketer and at least in ODIs, I expected him to much better. But when you are surrounded by mostly senior players with huge brittle egos, and also the double-edged sword called Afridi (Afridi badly wanted captaincy that eventually went to Shoaib). Shoaib probably enjoys the backing of the board but when on tours, it's all seniors and him. I mean how can he crack the whip on someone like Younis Khan and tell him that he was far from amused by his dropping a couple of catches against India? At times, you feel sorry for the guy.

Spot on SP n friends.
But for my liking there are far too many grey areas with Malik as captain; collective failure of pak cricket, not only his team, but even Malik undermines himself.

Till he started to captain, believed Malik would go places - now he barely moves in the crease while batting. Forget that deadly inside out over covers, Malik looks like he's got his insides out now.

Feel for the guy, sure, but even more so for us -who have to watch him bat, not bowl, stand, stare into the mid distance. Heck, he even wears full sleeves. I say farewell to arms, and Malik.
