its given!

yesterday was no different...

ozies bowled only 87 something overs with about 40 overs from spinners...that too after getting the play extended to half an hour...

once again we are yet to hear any thing from referee...not even a word from match officials...no use of 'swift discretion'...nothing...for this serial offense from punter...

we feel that ranting on over rate from aussies is getting monotonous...so why not icc comes up with new ruling...

its given that punter will always under bowl day in day out...

for once and all...we all will be at peace...

3 overs short Pan. He may point to other circumstances.

not three overs OTT if you take into account extra half an hour he was about 10 overs short...and going by run rate india were scoring we were robbed of 35 odd runs!

only one team played in the spirit of over rates.

ind will bowl 100 a day

we should hope for the soft decision against ausies.. as otherwise we msut have heard any indication from icc.
yesterday when Ist day finished, it seems that it is ended early due to bad bad weather or some other reason...there was no reaction from empire any worries on ponting's face..bcoz...'it happen only against india'

SA...

they have prefected the art of looking in other direction when sch things happen...

Good one... now this is where brownie points are scored against them... let's all make some big noise on this LOL.

lol scorpy!

that's why i always suspect their 'discretion'...

any other captain and he will be shopping for his wife on vacation at island!

Yes that discretion has indeed been used well by the ICC and their stooges... after all a hand raised directly in front inches away is taken as a mockery instead of obstructing a player.

We need some amendments boys and now let's make some noise about the overrates after the Indian bowling ends :)

straight point said...

scorpy do you think pawar being the next ICC chairman will help?

This is worse than the West Indian attack of the 1970s and 1980s. At least they had 4 fast bowlers compared to a bowling attack which has two spinners.

straight point said...

warm welcome sajith!

exactly...and when spinners bowled almost half the quota of over bowler it becomes even more criminal...

No chance SP... the rules went under his nose... what were they doing when they went through the rules during the Harby hearing? Nothing. If they could see a problem there, they could have raised it at the ICC meet a few months back.

Though they might now.

Actually it's the war of the supremacy b/w boards which have the numbers and boards which don't have.

And till people from the latter group hold positions of judges and refrees, this war is bound to show every now and then.

But things will be normal, just it's a matter of time, as it's the numbers which matter the most.

Well, my views on this are known and not always welcomed - I have never understood why peeps crib about Sunny when he calls a spade a spade.

[For the purpose of discussion, I cannot help but use the words white, black and brown deliberately and without malice, and doesn't mean I am racist unless anyone wants to delude himself desperately so, or it suits him to start yelling off in the wrong direction so. I mean the skin color here for it is a fact that color has played an important role in directing cricket and it is convenient in discussion to refer to them explicitly]

I understand the white men when they take umbrage to Gavaskar's utterances for he exposes them relentlessly. Often when you have to uncover filth, you are bound to have some stick to you as well...but that's a hazard you accept to live with for the larger cause.

Make no mistake, like it or not, even today, different standards apply to players purely on the basis of color. And oh, there are three minimum colours - white, black and brown...and believe it or not, there is plenty racism between black and brown as well.

We can expand on this...

lol scorpy! though didn't meant regarding rule only...was talkng in terms of overall impact... :)

straight point said...

you have a point there AB! we have few in 'elite panel'...may be when we have nuff numbers...

and thanks for the complement on home page... :)

sb...i value your opinion very much coz i know you didn't meant in that way while highlighting this...coz i can very well sense where you are coming from...

and needless to say i fully agree with you...

but i find some discrepancies in this theory as well...

ranjan madugale is an asian...aleem dar and rauf too is an asian...why they too fail in consistency...

when umpires decided not to report johnson to referee one of then was aleem dar...this is jst to highlight one example and i am sure there are many more if we dig into it...

@ Soul

You're making a valid point Soul.

And there's no wrong pointing to something which actually exists. All those who cry racist.. racist.. and make mountain out of molehill; are the same who try to prove brown and black opinion as stupid and biased; not by words but by sarcastic smiles, and animated eyebrows.

SP, As u said, Aussies will never be held responsible.

@ SP

SP just for the sake of discussion I want to elaborate on the point you raised about Aleem Dar, Ranjan Mudagale...

You're right; when people from Indian sub-continent take elite positions, they do behave exactly like their light skinned counterparts.
But there's a reason to it. That is what I think.

Indian sub-continent was subjugated for more than 200 years by light skinned people, merely for the last 60 years we are free people. Technically this means only one generation has experienced the taste of liberty.

So we're still in the colonial hangover, as the memories of two century long subjugation is still with us. Either through folklores or genetically.

A few examples would suffice,

The recipients of titles like padmShree, and so on still wish to flaunt the titles and majority of them use them before their names like a Dr.
Its right for other person to call the recipient padmshree so and so, but why use it in letter heads and name plates.
But as Raja, Rai Bahadur, Diwan and so on, the colonial titles are still with us, recipients of state awards want to be addressed with titles.

Another example comes from a popular expression used by people in north India. It gees like this when parents think their ward is behaving too stubbornly or becomes too rigid with his demands; parents react by saying "Bada lat sahab ban raha hai" (You are behaving just like a Lord Master). Lat is the debased word for Lord.

We still define an officer with light skin. In north India people often say "so and so person looks like an officer, fair, tall ..."

So our society still measures good traits from British perspective. So when someone achieves something big, he tries to copy the mannerisms, opinions and perspectives of the colonial masters.

Aleem Dar and party represent our society. Like us when they hold elite positions they behave like a white with a brown skin.

we know it TRI...the problem is what we can do to right the wrong...

straight point said...

AB

you've put it brilliantly...

the colonial hangover angle cant be put aside completely...

we are still not used to of, i dare, say power...

thats why asad rauf when he gave not out to sehwag...clearly did not saw it as ponting disagreeing to his decision when he went on arguing with sehwag and hold up the play...

that aleem dar when he gave not out to kallis and then heard some good words of appreciation from flintoff didn't find any angle of objection...and hence not reported the incident...

and quite appropriately referees on both occasion were looking conveniently at other direction...
