emerging india won...

at the times of ashes where oz is competing with pakistan for who is collapso king at the moment... something in smaller scale but important in context of indian cricket happened...

india won the emerging players title...

it is also interesting to note that to keep the south african cricket tradition alive emerging south africa, the other finalist, lost the only game of the tournament...finals that is...

in batting...virat kohli was the highest scorer of the tournament...not far behind him was ajinkya rahane...

while in bowling...sudeep tyagi was the highest wicket taker of the tournament...amit mishra being the second one...

here are batting and bowling averages of emerging team india...

there were some disappointments too...

one of them is badrinath who ensured that he stubbornly remain what he is...the forever emerging player...there is something about him that whenever the chance comes knocking for him to irresistibly stake his claim for the spot in senior team he develops cold feet...something he urgently needs to address to...coz there is big season of opportunities lies ahead...

another notable failure was of manoj tiwari...i guess he needs to spend more time in middle to grind it out...but unlike badri he has age on his side...so it will be too early to make judgment on him...

so while some players declared that they are really emerging from the shadows of young hopefuls to the serious contenders...some struggled to remain even the emerging ones...

but all in all a good result to indian cricket...now if only our selectors take timely calls on some careers and manage to balance the influx of bubbling youth with the solidity of experience...we can really see india stamping its authority in all forms of cricket...

I liked the look of tyagi in the IPL itself.
Man, that Badri better get something going or he'll make us bloggers look rather silly for backing him.

OMG!! WHERE'S CHE SP!! WHERE'S CHE!!

exactly prafs...he will make everybody look silly with his 'performances'...

as for che...last heard he was injured and since then there is no news on his front...

Virat Kohli has proven time and again that he has a terrific sense of occasion which however is limited to age-group cricket and what follows immediately thereafter. He must translate this kind of play (and what he does for Delhi in Ranji) to solid performances at the senior level.

I hope he values a test spot as much as he appears to enjoy playing LOIs.

If he comes good, he could replace Tiwary as one of the leading young cricketers of India. Pujara, for me, will remain the top dog till he is given a chance and disproves himself. I do not think either will happen though.

I risk sounding like a Taliban but no amount of success can convince me of Kohli's future as an India player.

yes sb! he does seems to have an eye for the occassion...i saw some matches of that youth world cup...

kohli, pujara, tiwary, rahane are leading yougsters along with rainas and rohits...but the problem with them is same what we discussed on your blog about bopara...

they all seems to think its the impact innings that will make them heroes over night and hence when given chances at bigger stage are getting found out...

som...tho i disagree with you in the sense that one can't be branded permanently but i can see where you are coming from...

kohli is not a popular player in domestic circles coz of his alleged attitude...but i think he will learn that if attitude counts and yuvi would have been leading team india not dhoni... :)
