pakistan vs srilanka... triumph of human spirit...

shared by straight point on Saturday, June 20, 2009

that refuses to give-up against all odds...

both finalists in a way are victims of terror...

team srilanka faced bullets...for no fault of theirs...

team pakistan faced isolation...again for no fault of theirs...

both teams overcame their demons...specially srilanka after that traumatic experience...

both team fought with more hunger and desperation than other teams...

» bored beyond boundaries!
redemption and defiance... @ BCC!

as sachin once famously said...both team indeed turned stumbling stones into milestones...and now are ready to lock horns for the battle of supremacy in the finals of world t20...

it can't merely be the coincidence...there is message hidden in it...

the message of keep fighting against all odds...the message that though negative elements can disrupt life...temporarily...but the spirit...the hope...just refuses to do die down for long...will eventually show us the way...and lead to our destinies...

while we don't know who will be lifting the cup on 21st of june 2009...what we know for sure is that cricket...the spirit of game...is already a winner...

take a bow...for srilanka and pakistan...

In T20 formate of the game the team that is chasing a score is in more presure than the other side as wicket taking is not the idea but curtailing the batsmen from scoring is the point. If 36 is to be scored on the last over to win and the batsman on the crease is capable of getting it and also if the last over is stetched to 8 or nine balls due to no ball and wide then it is real thrill for the watchers.

welcome RT...hope you will keep dropping by... :)

yes as much as its thrill for spectators like us...its great challenge to bowlers who don't have any place to hide in this shorter version of game...

If this is a triumph of human spirit, what about the triumph of 11/26? if Pakistan and SL deserved this final owing to what happened in Lahore, then by this logic the final should have been a 3 team affair :)

India emerging the winners. For all those blasts and attacks of 2008.

I have nothing against two teams playing finals, but invoking off field incidents here is wrong. if those events would be invoked, then 11/26 would be invoked too annd cricket would loose the relevance.

emotional crap should be kept away from cricketing crap.

The attempts of terror outfit to bring life in disarray are not limited to any field or country. England is hosting T20 games not because the country has an impregnable fortress around it that blocks terror out fits nor it does have in it only sages and outright family people who will never indulge in terror activitaies. The after affects of any terror attacks in England will have great effect round the world. Also England rulers will not term the disturbance as one created by non-state actors.
Of course dragging or mentioning the terror attacks on Srilankan team in the passing are to be ignored. When rain comes play halts. They call rain a spoil sport. Game starts when rain stop. Like wise we can say terror is a spoil sport. We can not wipe out terror altogether as we can not prevent rain to come until play is over.

you comment made me come out of my self imposed ban on sunday sam... :)

i always encourage difference of opinions...while you are right about 11/26 and it was unfortunate too...but in the context of cricket...needless to say what srilanka team went thru...and same can be said about pak team (here i am not talking about pakistan but pak cricket team) coz they were isolated...

while they (sl and pak) have not reached there in the finals coz of attacks...they were clearly more inspired...more hungry to put up best of efforts...and as i have mentioned it can not merely be the coincidence that only these two out of many deserving teams are there in the finals...

RT...we cant't simply compare terrorism with rain stoppage...coz of its obvious repercussions...

if you are in any doubt...ask srilankan team players... :)

Rain and terror acts do have one repercussion. They stop the game of cricket. Resumption of game in the same place in case of rain can be after hours or after a day while that due to terror acts make the venue not suitable for years if not decades. Farmers pray for rains for better harvest. Summer rains are welcome as it brings down temperature. Cricket lovers pray for clear sky during the game. Rains are acts of Nature and God on which men have no control. But terror acts are deliberate. Type of targets is immaterial. I feel affected by terror in the past should not be a feather in cap for teams that have come to finals of T20

rt...

just three months back they were locked helplessly in a bus ambushed by terrorist firing at them without knowing whether they will ever see light again...and now you see them in the finals of a world cup just after three months overcoming the trauma we could only imagine sitting at the comforts of our rooms...

if you wont call it triumph of human spirit...enlighten me please... :)
