'Challanged' Umpires or...

shared by straight point on Tuesday, June 17, 2008

from india-srilanka series umpires decisions will be challenged...not once but thrice!!

hmmm....

another bad news for 'dominating' australia...

why?

they will have to play with only 11 players from now on...

P.S. : Breaking news
players have proposed that ICC should declare those test matches 'unlimited' in which buckner will be officiating...last heard...ICC is seriously considering their proposal coz they just cannot drop buckner from elite panel...

Nice to see that you're back.
As for the new law, it sounds too good to be true, at the moment, SP. I wonder if there is some stink in the fine print. And, why stop with three?

That said, Bucknor was unusually good (or at least in the bits and pieces that I saw) in the Eng vs. NZ test. Interestingly it had both the disasters - Hair and Bucknor. But, for India, he will remain his (in)consistent self, I guess. :)

Welcome Back :-)

Thanks VM :)

such is the state of buckner umpiring that any test which passes unnoticed is considered nothing sort of miracle...

cheers Q!! :))

this should have been there from long time....:)

side note BCCI killing the cricket,
other day there was india vs pak final..it didnt look like final...it was just another ordinary match!

SP welcome back, the other day Nadir Shah was behaving just like Bucknor, the new rule is quite exciting, it might have some positive impact on the game but there are umpires who can give four or five bad decisions.

for once i have to disagree with you...how the lack of quality/intensity in the match has anything to do with BCCI...?

straight point said...

thanks wasim bhai!

there is no dearth of 'quality' umpires today... ;-)

three appeals too many for Sri Lanka's island paradise batting beauties. Next, Sanath snaps out of retirement. And Sachin out of injury.

NC...how i would like to see us going without sachin to island...it will throw interesting options to us before oz series...what say?

heheh...is this the cricket we all know and love?

I welcome this move for it will resolve many contentious moments. As we saw in ICL, this system works and does well in providing satisfaction all around and removing the bad feeling between players and umpires.

However, that said, technology must smarten up and become more accurate.

Hawkeye isn't yet good especially for the spinning ball or the ball that hasn't bounced. The software concerned might not be factoring the bounce of the pitch. But if Hawkeye is acceptable to all then one can use it as a standard.

I would also like the infra-red camera to be used...the one we see in England matches...which detects the "hot spots" raised by friction/impact for edges and bat-pad etc.

At the end of it all, as you say, despite all these one may need more appeals than three if Nor, The Bucking Bronco is officiating against India.

ICC will not remove him for the messiah of certain cricket countries has arrived in grand display of noveaue style. and ICC, for all the shrieks and shouts of traditional powerhouses is still their own bastion which has just been emboldened by the messiah...it is merely an illusion they like to cultivate that evil men from colonies have taken over.

Buck The Nor Nor Man is very much an integral figurehead of the great messiah's fight against colonies which he fights from the shoulders of the traditionalist's men friday.

nice to hear your familiar voice after some time SB!!

you have said it all...more than what i meant to say...

this rule is even going to annul this buck-the-nor-nor (thanks for coining new term) if he is not hell bent to 'prove' his worth i.e.

Lucky Australia have had all those umpires helping them, otherwise they'd never be the best test team in the world.
