Test Cricket Health...

another boring draw on dead pitch and the knives are out...

every other voice is either mourning the death of test cricket or seeing it...

but to me test cricket is already in bad shape...

before you jump on me with already out knives...

please wait a moment...

zimbabwe aren't playing test cricket...i doubt (no, fear) they will...

bangladesh resolutely sticking to infancy level...

nz is exploring new lows every time they play test...

...and west indies ensuring there is a tough competition with nz even for this...

pak is either seeing tours getting canceled or busy issuing threats of doing same...

SL had most thrilling test series in oz where they at last found a man who can stand against them...

england recently invented a new cure of insomnia...but still won next best 'ashes' defeating nz...

pretty 'good' health i must say...isn't it...?

Sub-continent is vital to test cricket's future. And it is in the sub continent that Test cricket is dying a slow death. Only Australia and England seem to be drawing decent crowds for test matches.

If the powers that be in BCCI think that IPL's league will make up for the lost glory of Test matches, then the are sadly mistaken. T20 cannot even survive in isolation to test cricket, let alone flourishing.

CG

good point...

its true that pitch was too flat for everybody's liking...but don't you think that as oz pitches are bouncy...england's seaming...subcontinent pitches should offer variety in terms of spin?? for overall 'test' of batsmen?

we really need sporting pitches to generate interest in test cricket....:). I hope BCCI does something to improve...:)

indeed KP...

but what is sporting wicket...?

KP said...

the one where u see results and where bowler and batsman both dominates....:). look at the australian pitches..it suits batsman, bowler (spinner and Paceman)....thats what we need sporting pitches...:)

KP...actally i put the question coz i am for distinct flavor/flair of country...

if all the pitches will be same then test cricket will become monotonous...so i am perfectly OK with oz having bouncier...england having seaming...and subcontinent having spinning tracks...

KP said...

I agree about the fact, that we should play with our strenghts and not weakness....:). I am all up for spinning tracks...but the problem is curator doesnt know how to make spinning track...somow they end up making FLAT Tracks with no results.....:). Australian pitches has produced Ponting, Warne and McGrath....:)...but i agree...we need to have spinni9ng tracks...

Oh dear, bowled out for less than 80. Test cricket is back to good health, I see!

straight point said...

yea atheist...

its live and kicking...

but in a way...i am happy that it happened to india on seaming track...

i could well imagine the cry all over world (and in india too) if the same thing would have happened to SA on spinning track...
