Music to Ears...

when i read this news in TOI about gary kirsten, particularly this highlighted portion:

Asked about what he can give to Indian cricket, the South African said "Having played the game at the highest level, I can add some value and my experience. There are experienced players in the team and together we can bring some very successful couple of years."

On what he would like to improve, he said "I think we need to talk about that behind closed doors. You know various strategies and hopefully you see results on the field but they are a special team and have some good performers.

its early days yet, but i think he will turn out more of backroom kinda guy...not media attention hugry like that certain darn guy, as soulberry would agree, who would have gone on and on what HE want to do, what will be HIS strategies and finally making dig at someone or other...

it also goes to show that if you are clear in what you will say and say it straight not even media can misquote you...that if you are prepared, confident about what you will be doing and how you will be doing...you dont have to shout from roof top to stuff theories in peoples head...coz the result will be there for all to see and it will give far more credibility to your profile...

as sidhu used to put it...

' you are not rewarded for aiming at target, you are rewarded for hitting the target'

Pan,

Can he take the pressure?

OTT

all i can say that at least he wont be oblivious of pressure...specially after seeing the fate of GC...

it would be naive to think he doesn't know what to expect when he took the job...all this makes me feel that he will be able to handle it...how better??? only time will tell...

Aren't the back rooms in India the worst ones...

Soulberry said...

"...and together..." Key words for me.

That was sorely missing earlier.

Backrooms are the most interesting rooms in India, Uncle. One could spend a lifetime there and not realize it's already time to die. The action is always so gripping and pacy there. The worst are the public rest rooms!

Pan,

Cant get rid of the feeling that he is another GC- big talk no results.

worst are public rooms...nice one OTT ;-)

jst for the sake of indian crcket i would like to believe that this endeavor goes
smoothly...and more importantly SILENTLY...

Soulberry said...

Smooth and silent like a Rolls or a Merc...hope it doesn't turn out like Hindenburg or Titanic. They were smooth and silent too besides being big...or the biggest.

Gambhir didn't make best use of the opportunity. One could offer excuses but he is a regular opener and should be able to handle he various combinations of pitch and bowling.

Also shows how ineffective India was. And I wonder why the umpires are giving things out again when they didn't for two days.

I tend to side with Ott on this one. Can't judge him solely on the basis of press speak.

Also, he doesn't take on until March, so there's time.

India goes to Oz without a coach. Shouldn't they send him over there?

In public restrooms near me, dudes entertain other dudes, whilst getting their knees dirty.

all we are doing is guessing and trying to find some sense whatever info we are getting thru media..we are right both ways...if we are skeptical or positive i.e....its reflection of our state of mind...so rather than being skeptical its always better to see new developments with +ve frave of mind...

he will be there for 2-3 weeks and the way he has understood the setup that we are currently doing find with seniors chipping in...and the way he is maintaining distance by not being interfering is refreshing change in approach according to me...so i guess all in all its going to be good...

uncle...

we too do it here albeit without dirtying our knees... ;-)

Uncle, you're getting the point...it's not the backrooms that are bad...they're fun.

Homer has a nice one on the coach issue.

It's a bit like an arranged marriage...Team India and The Coach...neither are falling over for the other, yet they must walk together.

too early to say anything about the coach, but would be great if he doesnt behave like the South good for nothing Australian muppet did in his 2 dark years with Indian cricket!!!!
