Way to go Yuvi...

if anybody had any doubt about inclusion of yuvi in final eleven...he should have seen his innings today...(at the time of tea, while writing this)

coming at pressure cooker stage of 61/4 and considering he was coming after long exile...what an innings he has played...he did not allowed the situation to get to him...though, understandably, started bit shaky but once he got the measure of wicket and bowlers on view, run started to flow...suddenly same pitch which was holding demons in it started to look 'flat'...the same bowling started to look ordinary...mind you pitch is still playing game...the bounce is inconsistent but such was the impact of batting it all looked so easy...

ganguly too played his role of senior guy to perfection, easing out anxiety (if any) in yuvraj by guiding him through his experience...he also started to match the flow of runs and played with some conviction...easily his best outing in recent memory...

coming back to yuvi, he is the player from the genre who will not only give their team enough time by scoring quickly but would turn the game on his head...the sort of player people spend their hard earned money to see the game...coz they will not only survive out there but make opposition team pay double the price till they will spent the time at crease...

i would go on to say that we would have won had he played the kolkotta test...he was the 'time difference' between the draw and probable win...

now even if he gets out at this score, he has done enough to merit a place in the team...and if this means dravid will have to open innings so be it...it will be the price our 'past' will have to pay for our 'future'...

you hit it right on the head... this is the way it should be and we should have a right batting line-up with some firepower.

In the context of the match, I think Ganguly's innings will become important.

Yuvi cannot be ignored.

With Kumble as Captain, I dont think Dravid will ever be forced to do anything.

Yuvi will have to wait awhile.

I had asked a question quite recently in one of my postes. Your best batsmen or your best openers? People seemed to think that opening was a specialist position, and for the long run it is better if we develop regular openers. Particularly when we have good competition for the opener's slot: Chopra, Sehwag, Gambhir, Parthiv all have legit claims. At the same time, Yuvraj seems ideally suited at the lower middle order. He will have to dislodge Laxman or Ganguly. No other way. Unless DK can open and keep. Means keeping Dhoni out.

Pathan may not have done enough with the ball today...or has he? (obviously its wickets which count, not the number of times you beat the bat) What's your take on it?
This match looks stalemated...the bowling is inadequate to make use of the pitch which is helping just enough. There was time Kumble would have ripped out the opposition on a pitch like this, as would Hrbhajan.

Assuming Pakistan take the lead late tomorrow...looks highly unlikely there'd be a result even by contived play and declarations.

its would be too harsh to judge pathan on the bass of this outing only...although the inswing is still missing...but the pitch is of the kind that it will and is supporting more seam bowling...

having said that i must say that i was very much disappointed with umpiring today...ishant hit some purple patch and there were more than close lbw shots both of him and pathan...no body will remember these on match statistics...more soever coz pitch was not doing anything and these decision takes the toll on body and mind of bowler who are going on and on...on this flat pitch..couple of wickets there would have made match interesting...and who knows what would have happened...
