being captain of team india is an enviable position which places you almost at par with the first citizen of india at least in the fans eyes...
though dhoni has handled himself as well as team india very well but always being under consistent scrutiny of intrusive, 'breaking-news' obsessive media and the expectations to win every time india plays... does has its own pressures and cracks have started to become visible...
dhoni is arguably the busiest international player... he plays non stop cricket and feature in almost every match india plays irrespective of the format... he is our best one-day batsman... he is our keeper and he is our captain... playing non stop cricket is not only physically draining but it can numb the thinking process of even the best in business...specially when the player in question dons so many hats...
so it is hardly surprising that he and his captaincy has started to appear stale and jaded... now he appears to be just going through the motions and seems to have left the captaincy to an auto-pilot mode... the midas touch has evaporated in thin air... the flexibility he was known for has been replaced by fixed almost stubborn decision making process irrespective of conditions and situations... the desire to win has been replaced by desire to not lose...
its high time dhoni is given break from the t20 captaincy and keeping... the move will not only give him much needed breathing space but it will also give him time to think a fresh to bring his mojo back...
dhoni is the most valuable asset of team india who brings so much to the plate... he is too precious to be left to lose to the fatigue factor... so under the circumstances relieving him from t20 captaincy and keeping will not be an earth shattering idea...
on why relieving dhoni from t20 captaincy is a good idea...

sachin's captaincy in ipl for mumbai indians reminds me of his captaincy stints in 90s...
even yesterday he was over the top... animated... expressive... and so volatile... that he was putting his colleagues under undue pressure... goes to show even if the time changes... some things never change...
often his stifling method of captaincy is mistaken for passion... coz i have seen captains leading teams with equal passion but less histrionics in the middle...
its good that mumbai indians are winning so nobody is talking about his captaincy otherwise there would have been many questions raised by now about the way he handles team in the middle...
take it easy sachin... let the boys relax a bit... that does not mean they will do job with less zest and focus... in fact they would do it better if given space to enjoy the challenge at hand...

last time when younis khan faced match fixing charges and he and intikhab alam were made to face parliamentary board to lose a game... i wondered whether pakistan really need a captain...
....and if they really need would it be better if they organise a draw before every match and whoever name comes out should be send to do the toss to make it less fussy...
but seriously... this time some selfish souls with no remorse to what their action will lead to... again managed to dig lowest of depth to embarrass pakistan cricket... as if they own it...
they didn't even bother to finish the series first and then do the talking... the easiest way they have come up with is to surrender a match they should have won knowing very well that after that they won't have to do anything... the waiting ex-cricketers who have nothing but the 'best of intentions' for pak cricket will lap up the opportunity like a starving dog catches a bone... making media sound as step cousin in making noises... not that media is complaining... they thrive on these situations which keeps their eye balls from falling away...
but where does this leaves pak cricket... why every time it needed to be embarrassed to make a point...?
in a team there will always be difference of opinions... and not every time players will like the decisions team management or captain takes... then why these players can not accept the differences and just play to the best of their abilities... the very thing which made them stars and have the courage to do the coup as and when they want... but more importantly and surprisingly too... why pcb is silent spectator to all the drama that is happening to boost the egos of these selfish souls...?
so the player who was asked to step down due to another revolt and who openly declared that he won't neither open nor come at no. 3 again is made to play in the team... the player who pick and chose the format that interest him... always shuns the responsibility... is made to believe that he is the messiah of pak cricket... the captain who has just won you a t20 world cup... is made to look like a criminal on parole... and the player who made the mockery of pakistan cricket by his flip-flops is rewarded the leadership of the team...
can even the daily soap opera get better than this...?
but seriously... with the riches of talent pakistan cricket has... its beyond me why they keep falling to the whims and fancies of these players who have nothing but their own agendas to settle... have no interest where the team is heading... or how the pakistan cricket is getting projected in front of world... in fact actively participate to make it a 'butt' of joke...
does the match fixing only happens when the money is being offered and taken...? does this act not tantamount to match fixing... and if yes will someone take step in this direction...?
its never too late to make a fresh start...
why can't pakistan shun these players from its system... its far better to lose a game on cricketing skills than losing a game just coz some players with vested interest wanted it that way...

shane warne has proved time and again that how good a leader he is…
he led rajasthan royals to ipl title last year…and if in current tournament they are still considered force to reckon with…its only coz of him…
but to me he fall short of being great leader…coz he has made his team look like robots that follow him blindly…he has made his team totally dependent on him…they can't see beyond his shoulders...so much so that it’s difficult to imagine rajasthan royals without him leading…
this is why they are faltering when batting…specially chasing…since there is nobody to control them in middle...they don’t know how to respond to those crucial moments…
this is why we see the record seventh wicket partnership in ipl…when he was at crease…it can’t be mere coincidence…
you can see him gesturing profoundly…giving instructions to fielders…bowlers…on almost every ball…that now he wants slower ball…now bouncer…etc…though it provides great spectacle…but it also shows that he is all over the place…and more than the team show…it’s becoming a show of one man…so over powering that rather than team getting its due credit…recognition…its warney who runs away with all credit...praise…while it augers well for him…but the same cannot be said about team…
good leaders always give space…the right to fail…they let go sometimes…interfering or offering to guide only when needed…and most importantly always look out to groom somebody to carry on legacy…which am afraid is not happening with rajasthan royals…
one can argue that there is smith as ready made leader available to them whenever warne decides to hand his boots…but i am getting this feeling that somehow smith seems disinterested…he might be feeling inhibited by warne’s leadership…or whatever…but one can sense his uneasiness…which reflects through his performances...his demeanor...
it will be nothing but a cultural shock to them…if and when they will report to a different captain…coz i don’t see him playing more than one season…rajasthan royals better start preparing now if they want smooth transition of leadership from inevitable ‘vacuum’…if they want their team to be strong…competitive…as much as it appears today under the leadership of shane warne…
