sehwag is the real god...

shared by straight point on Thursday, February 09, 2012

one can question the failing eyes of rahul dravid... baying for the blood of vvs and his failing knees... one can even question sachin whom we fondly call cricket god...

but no one can question sehwag...

the moment you see him looking like a tool by playing one of the most daftly manufactured shots... you will, without fail, see someone saying "well... this is the way he plays..."

we want everybody to come out of their comfort zone be it gambhir, dravid, vvs or even 'god' sachin... but we will always be ready to resign with "well this is how sehwag plays..."

whenever some question is asked of a batsmen in international cricket... the very batsmen is expected to come-up with answers to show his mettle... to show his acumen... but with sehwag you keep laying an open bait with the knowledge that he will keep falling to that trap like a religious ritual...

this reminds me of a famous joke (without hurting the sentiment of anybody...)

there was this sardar who whenever saw a kela lying on the road exclaimed... "o yaar... aaj phir isspay phisalna padega..."

viru praa ji... tussi real god ho ji...

Having a player like Sehwag helps only when you are winning.

In a functioning team Sehwag's batting attitude is often overlooked and we only remember the occasional flourishes.

In a dysfunctional team his batting attitude stands out like a cruel joke

In a functioning team his flourishes are frequent, in a dysfunctional team he is like a fish out of water.

One thing is clear, Sehwag, is as mortal as any other. He cannot change the fortunes of a mediocre side.

Even the greatest like Lara and SRT have failed in that...toh Sehwag to bas God hai ji....

Gol this is precisely the mentality I wanted to highlight... We, like viru, just wants him to be seen as glorious dasher while the truth is... He is much beyond that... Its just that there is just nbobody to push him...

He is much better batsman then he wants us to believe... On many occassion he has shown at highest level and even in odis that he can play, see off difficult period without compromising much on his stroke making... Its just that he let his motivational level drop alarmingly... Hence the frustration...

i agree 100%. Its like he has become a victim of his image that he himself has helped build and some of it people have made and he has believed it...

A lot of individual stupidty is being hidden due to the overall stupidity of the team as a whole. Everyone is doing the same thing over and over and over because it worked ten thousand years ago and recorded in Statsguru

India's test team is a model of insanity

Its ODI team is a bit better largely due to some fresh minds and bodies but not entirely insulated from the Test team.

I wantched that Sehwag shot in the SL ODI and wondered....forget about everyone else; how is Sehwag going to face himself. Doesn't he himself have some expectations? I had the same question to him and Gambhir when they kept refertring to wins they had achieved during the era of Aurabgzeb and Shivaji (it just seems that long ago)

One innings, just one big innings from Sehwag and all of this bashing is going to end. There is no better batsman to watch than Sehwag in otherwise in this mediocre times for world cricket.

It is right that Sehwag is good player but you can say that he is legend in Indian cricket. He is on risk like Afridi if he play 10 overs he can change the game.

I agree with some of the comments here, that when Sehwag clicks, he's unstoppable. But when he doesn't, that's another story... Anyways,we will probably never see a player like Viru who averages over 50 and has a strike-rate of around 80 in Tests! Phenomenal.

Yeah, that's the way he plays, whenever the time challenges his form and ability he has always countered with a good knock and that's the same way he scored in the opening test against England.Surely he has been inconsistent but having him in the team gives you an advantage of a brisk start and n early benefit over the opponent. And by the way Good Joke.
