"We were very absolutely outraged by ecb's demand for butt's apology" Afridi said. "We refute them completely and we were very disturbed that someone would come out and demand apology for our president's "innocent remarks" without any proof to back their innocence. When this news broke there was a lot of raw emotion around and we needed to let that subside. But we didn't have a lot of time to do that. Once the emotion did subside, we as a group of players realised that the best option available to us was to play the game."
this is what afridi said after losing yet another series against a team that was already very disturbed and lost lord's odi earlier coz of that...

The point is here is that the ICC has to investigate reports that surface like this - albeit they should probably have gone about it in a different way.
For Afridi to call Ijaz Butt's comments 'innocent' is ridiculous. Imagine if Giles Clarke, chairman of the ECB, started making unsubstantiated comments and allegations about match fixing - how outraged would the Pakistani's (or whoever they were directed against) be. He may be chairman of the PCB but his comments, far from being innocent, were irresponsible.
welcome TCH... that statement of afridi was my verbatim spoof on strauss statement... :)
here is the link...
ah missed that!
The point stands though. Think Butt is a crazy who you would guys would be better off without. (you are Pakistani aren't you?!)
Was a real shame for me as for the most part it was an interesting and competitive series.
Fingers crossed everythings sorted out and you guys come back stronger - I'm based in Dubai so going to go and see some of the South Africa matches.
no i am not pakistani TCH... i am an indian...
i have said before... butt is only the part of the pcb problem... and i also believe that more than butt icc damaged cricket with its way of dealing with fixing saga when they allowed the cricket to be run by tabloids...
