as expected... sachin has been rested from the upcoming tri-series between india, sri lanka and new zealand...
sachin has been given rest is not an ordinary decision but a comment on sign of times to come... when a player will be rested from meaningless international series to play in more commercially viable... glamorised designer domestic level tournament... the future of cricket... aptly named... champions league...
coz that is where champion players play...
why should a champion player, like sachin, play in an unglamorous, increasingly meaningless and about to die format... limited overs internationals... nobody cares about...?
on sachin being rested from tri-series...

Let's hope this is the last of these "meaningless" series Sachin opts out of..for a guy who is hanging around in the One day team only to play the WC, he should be playing more ODIs...
megha... but playing more odi's like the tri-series is risky specially for tournaments like CLt20... after all as dhoni said they have duty towards franchisee too and specially with whopping money clt20 promises... #sarcasm
You have this practice of hitting the bull's eye. Not too good a practice SP. Not in these times of cricket celebrities and certainly in this hyper-commercialised cricket world.
Tendulkar is doing what athletes and professionals everywhere do. The problem I have is with people who paint him as some sort of selfless saint who has given up all worldly pleasures for the country.
thanks bala... its your generosity to say that...
mahek... then its the problem with people perception not sachin's... no?
I agree with Mahek.People think of Sachin as a god, which I find wierd. The people must understand that they should criticize him when he is wrong and not get too much credit at times. And its not just the people but also the media who sometimes give so much credit to Sachin that others like Dravid,Kumble aren't given same respect. Why I am saying this is,I remember the first day of IPL 2.Two matches took place in SOuth Africa.RCB won one of them, thanks to a superb knock by Dravid won and Mumbai won the other due to Sachin's innings. Both played equally well and helped the team to victory.
But I saw the news that night and what I witnessed was bizzare. They talked about Sachin for about 20 min and then just had 2 min on Dravid. Also, the next days newspaper had Sachin's pic on the 1st page, while they didn't even bother to put up Dravid's pic on the sports page. This is what annoys me.
SP, sarcasm apart, why not stop this meaningless ODIs altogather?
@Freehit, true. As a Dravid fan, i remember that fairly well, and in fact know enough to only expect that. The media is nauseating us with "sachin news". It's a pity, esp when the deserving do not get their due.
mayank
we and the game need as much as sachin as we need dravid... some are meant to be in limelight for doing anything and some are destined to be back stage guys but the one who follow know the true value of both and then who gets more limelight does not matter to the true fans.
ODIs are not going anywhere vm...
as i said true fans and the follower of games knows what's happening and they don't need media to yell from roof top to know that... :)
SP you have hit straight to the point but will it matter ?
BCCI is not gone hear the fans, it just gone see the amount of money coming all the way.
IPL and CLT20 should be limited to only young generation and not the one senior and all that.
Moreover, the objective of such league was to get new talented cricketer from the small towns.
unfortunate but true HK... it does not and wont bother to bcci ever...
i actually don't have problem with seniors playing money spinners but not at the cost of international cricket... specially when an important home series with oz beckons...
Aha! VM is alive and well.
look who has reincarnated as ott!!!
welcome back sir!
