have voice... will preach...

in the world where harsha yells dlf maximums when a six is hit... states open secrets of mrf-blimp whenever the camera zooms on it... coz every other commentator is doing it... for money... he asks bcci to act statesmanlike...

And yet, I would love it if India was different, if it could indeed take the lead in governance and transparency, focus on making cricket a richer sport rather than dragging it through controversy.

one wonders... where the irony lies...

That's an interesting comment from Harsha.
But then he's called a 'commentator' and will make comments, and some like these will be ridiculously filled with irony. :)

Come to think of it I didn't hear Harsha talk about the MRF "Blimp" a single time. I'm sure if he could he would cut out those DLF Maximums but unlike the BCCI he's not the one calling the shots. He's made a good point which should be taken for what it is instead of scrutinising the person behind that message.

Doesn't BCCI snacked the commentators who were part of ICL ?

I love harsha, he is management guru (IIM). The person who deserve President post is like Harsha.

how simplistic sunny!!

by the same token administrator's job is to admin... why he must have sense of entitlement to be a statesmanlike...?

mahek... i will look at message if he is just a messenger that is... but he is making money out of a profession like bcci is making money out of cricket...

one can criticise any organisation coz no one is perfect but i have reasons to believe that bcci, in a position they are, and the vast profile of their functions, they are doing pretty good than many boards...

when he could not stand up and be 'statesmanlike' amongst commentators and said i won't call six a dlf maximum (there by risking money) why he expects others to do it..?

first welcome at sp CS... hope you will keep dropping by...

sorry i must have missed the rule book where it is mentioned that management gurus with IIM degree can not be questioned... and criticised... :)

Like I said, I don't remember him ever talking about the "blimp".

You're again overlooking the difference in the position he's in as opposed to the BCCI. The board can call the shots but it doesn't make good use of it. Harsha doesn't have any leverage when it comes to working for them.

You can think the BCCI is doing better than other boards if you like just as others would like to think differently. It's a matter of opinion and there's room for everyone to have theirs.

yes mahek... exactly the same here... :)

SP, yes I do believe like you that BCCI is doing better than most boards... but the point here is different...

Australia played better cricket than most teams... yet they were the least liked... BCCI is in a similar state...

Harsha's DLF maximums were forced out of his mouth (atleast that's what I'd like to believe)... IPL is a BIG tournament with BIG pay packets... one wouldn't miss the chance to do commentary there even if you have to make certain compromises like saying DLF blah blah instead of just appreciating the hit...

It's sad... but the truth is it can't be helped... the world has come to that... Harsha realises it n believes that he has to move on from the old school... just as we all need to...

exactly my point shri... one is allowed compromise and leverage... while other is not... :)

I know it's an over simplified statement, but it was meant to be taken with some sarcasm as well. :)
It's just that there are so many commentators these days who will just ramble on for the sake of speaking or commenting, without ever being concerned about providing insight.

...and then they would suddenly become holier-than-thou-cows and start preaching others on how we would like them to be statesmanlike... ;-)
