what will sachin do...?

shared by straight point on Wednesday, June 30, 2010

from mid july onwards india will play test series with sri lanka which will be followed up by the tri series with new zealand as the third team that will end in last week of august...

from 10th september onwards champions league t20 will start in south africa in its new format which will end late september... after that, almost immediately, it will be time to play home test series followed by an odi series with australia ...

here is india's schedule... and this is champions league's schedule...

now considering the workload from the upcoming hectic season... and considering that sachin excused himself from an international event, asia cup, in lieu of some well deserved rest and spending valuable time with his family... will sachin excuse himself from champions league, a  t20 league, to be ready for much important australia test series after playing in sri lanka...?

or will he take rest from tri-series in sri lanka, another international series, to be ready for the champions league which is not even an international tournament...?

Simple: Arjun and Sachin will split the season two ways.

NC offers the best advice I guess. But mark my words, SRT won't skip CLT20 at any cost.

yeah nc... arjun will play 'home' while sachin 'away'...

exactly the point of this post som... while picking and choosing it is certain that he will pick CLT20 over an international series... if that's the case that is... :)

I think you know the answer here, Sachin would excuse himself from the tri series..

Or may be they will follow NC!

ankit... even if MI's do not go beyond clt20 semi finals it will leave so little time for sachin to return home and play first test on 2nd october... and adjust game straight from t20 to tests...

SP,

come on don't tell me MI are not winning CL, the only reason i let those CSK supporters get away at the end of IPL final was this only hope :P

And about the schedule, I think Sachin would manage to reach by the first test, of course, it might lead to failing in that test, but then again, there would be some bloggers (read me) who would talk about letting that pass as one of failures...

so long as MI win the CLT20 finals i.e.

talk about country v/s club :)

haha... country v/s club...

the failure in first test of two test series is granted if MI wins clt20... could be a nice post on apd about this... :)

SP,

You have this argument backwards. Sachin should play the CL T20. As should Dhoni and every Indian player who stands a chance to be selected for the tour to SA. Remember that the CL T20 is being played in SA and as a lead in to our tour to SA, what better preparation than playing an intense tourney in South African conditions as a precursor to our tour there.

Cheers,

we played ipl in sa and then t20 worldcup in sa too... that dint seem to help homer... :)

besides there is urgent matter of preparing for test series against oz as he will be playing shortest format that too in different time zone leading to test series at home...

Sachin should abandon the Indian test team, that's what he should do :P. What is with this schedule! Your boys will go crazy, not to mention blame everything on fatigue (which will actually be justified!)

what to do purna... everybody wants a pie of india-cake to stuff their coffers with greens... :)

though i take your suggestion on sachin... the two test series is a pointless exercise... :P

And I thought the CLT20 is an ICC ratified event and has place in the FTP also! I remember the ICC saying they will have a window in the international calender for CLt20...anyhow Aus players from Vic and South Aus will also be a part of teh event not to mention the aussies in other teams in CL..

And India's schedule is NEVER final..changes can be made to accommodate things... and sep 26 - oct 2 ...this is a bigger break than the players got between the IPL and World T20 ! So we should be happy :D and Aug 25 to Sep 10 ...biggest break to prepare for a series... :P If only we had this for the World t20 !

If only we had this for the World t20 !

if only some renowned cricketing names in ipl council would have understood it aditya... :)
