regulars of this blog know i have been a strong backer of dinesk karthik (BossDK) but that is changing of late...
i have tried to explore the curious of BossDK at bored... here is an excerpt from the post over there...
to his credit he never appears out of form... he is sort of player who is like 'quick-fix' that can be summoned on 11th hour and still he would do what he is supposed to do... the difference of time-zone does not seems to matter to him neither does jet-leg... and as a bonus... he ranks right there as far as fielding of his preferred peers concerned...
is it so easy being BossDK...?

SP,
I think i have come to blv that being DK is rather unfortunate, with dhoni being the captain and all!
of course it is also unfortunate that msd prefers an always out of form kohli and on-off rohit sharma over a better DK!
DK will go in history as one of that generation which international cricket missed out on!
anikit... dk is unfortunate to the extent that he is born in dhoni era so he cannot be a regular keeper of team india... but i still do not understand why him being keeper comes in his way of being selected purely as batsman...
but then when he is given regular chances he butches them... i still remember discussing his 80 odd runs innings in first odi on west indies tour with NC... the feeling was there was an easy hundred for taking and he let it go for a tame shot... it was not as if the bowler earned his wicket... coz then nobody remembers 80s its the century they remember...
DK has been an enigma (to quote somebody from the media - cant recall who). He's a decent batsmen. I do remember the time when he used to open in Tests with Jaffer. Those were the days when you'll see India cruise to an uneventful (albeit) boring 60-odd without loss.
However, I must disagree with you in that he has had his out-of-form days. Remember the days under Kumble? When DK batted at 5 or 6. He struggled for a couple of Test and then was dropped. Never made it back into the Test squad after that. Despite that, I have always felt for him. It's nice to hope that maybe his day will come - just as it did in the Asia cup final.
vm... i think you are referring to that sri lanka tour when more established and pedigreed batsmen then him failed too... only viru and gambhir managed to come out with their image intact from that tour amongst all batsmen...
though i agree with you on the thing that he should be given consistent chances rather than start-stop gap to really asses his worth since india has invested in him so much time...
