something unfanthomable happened in t20 world cup yesterday...
west indies became the first team in world to benefit from duckworth-lewis (D/L) method... but the unfathomable part was that it was the england who suffered from it...
how could this happen to england of all the teams in world...?
now that mighty england has suffered the fate from D/L method... implemented first time in any major international level tournament... it has 'exposed' how complex it is to follow... and how unfair it is to team batting second...
the evidence is there for all the see... we can expect some much needed amendments...
one cynic got the whiff from my tweet on the same matter and sent me this link of 1992 world cup... he severely criticised me for my lack of general cricket knowledge... he told me D/L method is in place since ages... and that it was england team who benefited from it then...
must say... i am left speechless...
how could this happen to england...?

Hilarious, thanks. The squeals can be heard from miles around.
cheers lou... wonder what zimbabwe will be thinking about it...
SP,
D/L wasn't in place during 1992.. I agree with the sentiment though :)
mm.. yeah how this can happen to england? for sure they is a remote possibility for change.
What???Is Zim exists still?? ;-)
But hold on..
yeah how this can happen to india?? i think will recieve an instant result.
kanda
namya... that cynic was right... i do have little general cricket knowledge... :)
yeah how this can happen to india?? i think will recieve an instant result.
imemyself... that will be the last time when world will hear about D/L method... ;D
SP..
I think this happened to them for they lost their wicket in the last over, and couldn't do much in that over... considering DL takes resources left with both sides into account
had it rained in the aus pak match, aamer's wwwwow over would have been vindicated
i agree ankit... but my point (read sarcasm) was this is not the first time it has happened... then why so much hue and cry...?
to re-phrase famous quote on life...
D/L is not fair for your team... D/L is not fair for my team... this makes D/L fair...
Wonder what you're on. If D/L was unfair to the team batting second Gayle would have opted to bat first, no? The Windies captain himself agreed with Collingwood on this matter so it's not just the England captain who thinks the system is flawed in the shortest version. But why let facts come in the way of a right rant against the Poms?
exactly mahek why let little facts come in right rant...
like i would put a big banner of sarcasm tag when i attempt it next time... so that you can enjoy the rant too... but then i trust the intelligence of my readers... so i dint put it... :)
I have no doubt who the sarcasm was aimed at. It's just that I find it no different from the rants you so diligently criticise. Shows how black the pot is.
all i can say is... i admire your expertise on recognizing the black pot so accurately... i look fwd to you spotting many more here... :)
SP,
acha.. the same old fight, come on ya these guys will never understand all this fairness... i have stopped trying as well...
ankit... why preach when we can have fun... :)
England are through to Super Eight riding on D/L. Indeed, how could this happen to England?
indeed som... wonder what ireland is feeling now...
