team india is no.1... again...

shared by straight point on Thursday, February 18, 2010

after getting the pasting at nagpur... india expectedly came hard at the proteas... and how...

such was the determination of the team india... that not even almost 60 overs of washed out play... left with just three main bowlers due to injury of zaheer khan on the penultimate day with pitch still being true and the monumental effort from hashim amla could prevent india from winning the game... to level the test series... to keep the top place intact...

we have again shown to whole world why we are ranked no.1 in tests...

so though the honors were shared at the end... but not the no.1 spot... which belongs to us... to team india...

congratulations!!

A fitting contest to decide the No. 1 spot in Tests, undoubtedly!

gb... include me in the list too... but its the critics like us who keep the players on their toes (unfortunately tho)...

its the criticism from all quarters that propelled him to come up with the performance for he was just going thru motion till then...

what we want from him that he bowls like a lead spinner is supposed to... wickets or no wickets...

indeed it was fitting contest sj... we also shred the notions for once and all that we win on dust bowls... coz the wicket stayed true till the last ball...

Bhajji did good job for India when it was needed.Pocket mein Rocket hai G.

yes vikas...

we to don't expect him to take five wickets every time... but what we do expect is minimum level of performances from him being the leading spinner in the team now... and that too without being criticised from all quarters...

Can we raise the issue of ensuring home advantage, from the beginning of a series. Why fall and then get up !

ab... tho i agree with you notion of home advantage... but kolkotta wicket was anything but that... it was the kind of sporting wicket where there was bounce for bowlers who were ready to bend their back... there was something for spinners... and also for the batsmen who were reasy to bid their time in middle as 7 centuries scored in this match suggests...

so while it was good win on good wicket but labeling that wicket as 'home advantage' wicket will be bit unfair as far as i am concerned...

SP, I think Bhajji's new-found sense of responsibility at Eden had something to do with his sister's marriage. He realised he has some responsibility, as leading spinner and as elder brother. Ganguly said fatherhood changed him. In Bhajji's case, it's elder brotherhood brought about the change.

its an interesting observation som... i hope this new found awareness of responsibility stay in the head of bhajji and not only when he faces criticism from all quarters or seeing his sis marry... :)
