thanks to india...

for not only becoming no. 1 test team in the world... but also to many... who suddenly making the ranking system look crap it has always been... conveniently overlooking the fact that you will always be judged on the prevailing measurable scales which are in effect since the start of twentieth century...

its akin to saying a batsman doesn't deserve century coz he was dropped by fielders on many occasions... or that bowlers were not bowling great line and lengths... but does it matter to a batsman...? is he accountable to the opposition being measurable... or them not having enough good bowlers in their ranks...?

whatever be the adopted ranking system there will always be debate on pros and cons of it...

to be the best side in world india will have to beat top teams at their home... there is no argument on this... but on same token one has to accept that being no.1 and being the best is as different as chalk is from cheese...

much the same way that current no. 1 batsman under the prevailing ranking system is gautam gambhir but saying he is the best batsman in the world... is debatable... but stating the obvious won't take away anything from the efforts gambhir has put in since his comeback to the side...

so while let then sooth their enviously burning asses with this flawed ranking system balm... i for that matter urge you to let not this come in your way in cheering the current no.1 test team... which is india...

cheers!

The British press is making most of the fuss about it when they should have no business at all. They are never going to make it to the top unless you turn the chart upside down.

tell me sb! :)

yes its an accomplishment well deserved...

som... even then they wont come out top... let them win ashes and play south africans... apart from that nothing else should matter to them... :)

They are a good side and deserved Number Ones. The challenge now is to stay there.

exactly freddy...

they have the potential to be the best and being no.1 is but just a milestone towards that journey...

By the same token, South Africa being ranked #1 is also wrong. They didn't win in SL or in India.

Ever since the ranking was started only Aus have deserved it. They beat every team home and away.

Point is, the rankings and whoever thought them up sucks big time !

welcome TG... thanks for dropping by...

yes i appreciate the fact that only oz in past beat teams home and away but that was many moons ago...

they lost the home series against sa... though won at sa but lost against us as well as ashes away...

and the ranking system has always been like this since the time on inception... so why hue and cry now...?

as i said too... that to be best we have to beat top teams at their homes... but since its not going to happen soon coz of bcci laxity why not till then enjoy india being no.1... as the team that is more consistent than any other teams in tests despite allegedly playing less test cricket... :)

India has toured every Test country in last few years and won in every country. The results speak for themselves and they have been the team who have played consistent cricket in last 15 months.

7 of 10 wins isnt a fluke against Australia, England, NZ and SL :)

just need to give credit to the Indians they deserve.
