killing the talent softly... but surely...

shared by straight point on Saturday, December 05, 2009

recently i aired my thoughts on amit mishra's one bad outing at ahmadabad... on one of the most patta strip one would encounter... and this is what i wrote then...

for the man who was kept on the benches for past six months or so... and even when it was clear that he won't take any part in home series against australia was not released to play domestic games to keep himself match fit... when you don't require more that 12-13 players to be present in dressing room and even a local lad can come and field as substitute...

as feared on the evidence of one bad performance... assisted from on air propaganda... amit mishra was not only dropped from the next match but now almost as a 'reward'... from one day internationals too...

more so even after dropping him from the test side from the second test match and later from one day side as well selectors have not released him to play in domestic games... making him sit idle... doing nothing but making tv appearances exchanging sweet nothings with the guy sitting next to him... or occasionally carrying the drinks...

though our respected selectors are not answerable to media thanks to bcci diktat... but the general opinion about mishra's getting dropped from team from both format being he was short of match practice... he needs some overs under his belt...  etc etc...

so first a player was not given a chance even on some of the spinner friendly wickets india encountered in recent times for the past six months or so... was not released to play in domestic games to remain match fit during one day series against australia... when it was crystal clear that he won't take further part in that series... and after just one bad outing you drop him... siting his lack of confidence due to not enough match practice...

all this when he could have done well to join his state team haryana in ongoing ranji trophy league... have had some overs under his belt to regain not only his rhythm and lost confidence but an opportunity to launch his come back campaign as well... coz the team is announced for first two odi matches only out of possible five one day games...

but no... five wise men had this brain wave that it would be better for amit mishra's career to carry drinks... not for one but two consecutive test matches... he is not the part of... in home series...

will someone from selection panel explain this farce...?

if this is not called killing the talent softly... but surely... please enlighten me...

They (selectors) have killed many with their bear hug.

indeed ott... they have...

its very unfortunate that they keep on killing dreams with being answerable to it... when in life you sneeze differently and find yourself behind the bar...

It's a cruel world. You have to belong and/or perform.

yes sb... its cruel world... you have to belong and perform... but then you get punishment by getting dropped from the team...

but what about prolonging the agony by not giving chance for redemption even...
