time for an honest assesment of available resources...

if you are sulking at the thought that how unlucky india was to get out of champions trophy on the basis of just one defeat then chances are you have not seen them play...

if you are sulking at the thought that how india missed virender sehwag, yuvraj and zaheer then again chances are you have not seen england and new zealand play... specially later team coz they could hardly muster a playing eleven owing to injuries of many first choice players...

so stop sulking...

baring 3-4 players... most players are not even average fielders in our team... thanks to robbing singh... which makes me wonder that kirsten is fast turning into an indian than most indians are... failing to assert himself fearing his job...

india pace cup board is bare... that's why even if ishant who is not even half the bowler now he used to be... he must play for the lack of choices... and so does rp despite his tendency to spray ball to explore every possible spot on 22 yards strip... and then in middle overs comes our one and only spinner in the country... bhajji... who flights the ball only when he sees no. 9 or 10 batsman on crease that too when he is reasonably assured that they don't appear to attack him...

india got the thinking wrong from the start itself... international games are not the stage to learn and that too when tournament is so compressed that every match is crucial for you... so the utilisation of the resources has to be spot on... and that's where the problem was with india...

amit mishra was kept out of the loop for flimsy reasons... and so was praveen kumar... against the likes of yusuf pathan and rp... and when they played the difference was visible... we got to know what spin bowling actually is and that there was swing available too to exploit from the pitches...

its very convenient to think that we would have chased against aussies coz when we even failed to encash the free gifts on offer from pakistan... how could one be so assured that we would have successfully chased against mean aussie bowlers and far tight fielders...?

and even if the match was possible after rain interruption in the form of a truncated game... we would have paid heavily for the blunder of dhoni who insisted on bowling off color ishant despite the rain clouds hovering over his head there by not only wasting available overs but making it sure that india were to face much stiffer target...

dhoni tactics left a lot to desire... making me wonder from forward thinking captain he is fast turning into a 'bulb'... who wastes resources...

next assignment of india is not going to be easy as we are due to play australia for 7 match long odi series with ponting in great form and lee returning to his lethal best... where one's weakness will be cruelly exposed and there won't be a place to hide anyone...

so i expect an honest assessment of resources available without any prejudices... if we want to be top team in the world... consistently that is...

As regards to this so called injury excuse from some Indian supporters, Injuries are simply part of sport so excuse can’t be made there..... It will defiantly affect the team’s performance somehow but you can’t always rely on a few players as you need to have some depth and emerging youthfulness in your structure.

However, needless to say that Pakistan are in the semis against the New Zealand. This shall be an easy win for Pakistan with their inform bowling attack and vast depth in the batting department.

Furthermore Newzealand have had somewhat of a reputation at being disturbed by the curse of the semi -final! Whether they will be able to overcome this theory can only take Saturday to tell.......

yes maza... injuries can't be given as excuse... and its not as if we don't have bench strength either... that can be explained thru that we lost the match against pakistan rather than they winning it... despite sachin not scoring... and bowlers bowling the way they bowled...

regarding your match against nz... i have this feeling pakistan is taking it very lightly the match is going to be at wanderes where they were reduced to five for nothing against a weaker westindies... and with your lower middle order have been hardly tested... caution won't hurt pakistan's chances...

best of luck for the rest of tournament tho... :)

The big mistake was final X1 team selection. It might not have been half this bad if common sense in selection applied.

The Indian squad was by no means a second string team and they didn't use the bench strength well.

They are turning out like England in the last few years... Stick with the bum pals for life.

exactly scory... i agree with you this was not a second string side by any stretch of imagination... but as you said dhoni just wants to play with his pals...

hope he will learn that its important to win matches rather playing preferences... for that you can satiate the itch in gully cricket...

BCCI want to scuttle CT hence they lose. Seriously, the chaps don't have an extra gas tank.

indeed sb... they don't have extra tank... but there is reason for it... when you see a player is playing not for an injury but coz of rotation policy...?
