there are many jonathan trotts in every country...

but the need is to find them... need is for the system that can find them...

in this age when many youngsters are playing cricket dreaming ipl... when many youngsters are limiting their cricket thinking ipl... there are still some youngsters who wants to represent their nation at highest level... test cricket that is...

jonathan trott is one of them...

it took england the injury to kp... not so great form of some key players and lots of deliberations to discover a player like him who illustrated yet again to many that more than talent its the temperament that will take you far in international cricket...

he looked by far the most relaxed batsman at the crease after andrew strauss... coming in on the verge of another potential collapse... in the deciding test match of ashes... and showing traits of seasonal performer... on his debut...

he may be found out in due course but so will be others... he has talent and more importantly the unflappable temperament that he seems to posses will keep him going and that's where i feel england has found a gutsy player who doesn't need to manufacture all those poses to convey that he means business...

as i said earlier... there are youngsters in every country who have talent as well as temperament to succeed... who relish the challenge of representing nation at highest level... but endlessly waiting for their turn... england found one in the form jonathan trott... owing to injuries and bad form of some established players...

but what will take india and indian selectors to find one...?

where are you CHEteshwar pujara...?!!

Chetheshwar Pujara was exactly the one I had in mind as I read your article. Wonder when his time will come and how many batting collapses we need before that?

batting collapses we ? vm ? did u read India in batting collapses ?

mine too vm... :)

more than the batting collapses it will first need 'collapse' of mindset of selectors who don't select a player without a godfather backing...

sam i am correct i read in one of your post that one can ask anything from you and said quite a long period too...yet its very strange you don't know about infamous ugly collapses...??? strange!

let me refresh your memory we could not chase 120 odd in west indies for historic win...we lost to zim i think in harare... recently team led by flintoff without many frontline playes defeated us...same against pak... we would have won in australia in 2003-04 only... but we could not and common reason for all these defeats were ugly collapses...

wonder why we don't win back to back test matches most often...? the reason is that after a win you are assured of looming collapse out of complacency...

Huge surprise that trotted out! The case with England as always is a sense of groupism. Newcomers are not all that welcome and takes time to settle in. If the player fails a bit during that time, he is doomed, so it is a bit like India.

KP's injury atleast give chance to such type of a player.

yes scorpy...groupism is the word...i will use it in the next post i am coming up in a short while...

yes it happens in india too specially with not so glamorous players or the ones who don't have enough backing...

but if a youngster has to crack the door open he watch see trott's debut closely...

yes vikas...unfortunate but true...

unfortunate coz it was extreme measures...left with virtually no choice that they discovered trott...not by knowing or believing his potential...
