its been a while...

sorry guys...i was away for a while...on forced vacation...in the mid of world cup!! (you can easily understand my plight...)

it seems lots have changed...from being defending world champions...team india now have to defend themselves when they will return to india...against waiting media...

can't comment directly on...coz i missed all recent matches including india's (of which i was (un)fortunate to see last couple of overs of england's innings only)...but here are my thoughts based on perceptions....and some old whines in new bottle...oops...post...

against my wishes team india went on with the mind set of defending world champions title...rather than to win it...they played with the strategy of not losing rather than playing attacking cricket to win it...hence over emphasis on stability (dhoni and later jadeja coming in to 'consolidate' is the point in case...)

dhoni now has become prisoner of flexibility...and of late seems to have developed the knack of fiddling with careers of players (specially batsmen) which is getting increasingly uncomfortable and gaining dangerous proportions...

  • he did not let badri settle into any kind of rhythm in spite of him winning a match single handedly for csk...
  • successfully managed to mess up raina's great form...india's highest run scorer from recently concluded ipl...
  • and his latest victim being poor ravindra jadeja...

while india paid the price of playing poor cricket by becoming the first team to exit from super8...i am wondering when robbing singh will pay the price of india consistently pathetic poor performances in fielding department...

i have been mentioning it for a while now at bored...that's why i call him 'robbing' singh...coz now his 'coaching' has robbed us a chance to win and retain world cup trophy...some guys are born with all the luck and permanent position of fielding coach in indian team...

but what about harbhajan singh...? of what little i saw...but for his dart bowling (he gave away 10 runs for leg side wides and also extra runs that were scored coz of wides...) we could have still won despite all the messing up from dhoni, jadeja and robbing singh's pupils...

sadly, too much went wrong in yersterday's match :( little things that added up to the defeat.

was it coz of sudden death panic megha...?

Don't think so SP.

It was stuff like giving away easy extra runs as wides, not giving RP his full quota of overs and persisting with Ishant when he has been off colour the whole tournament, just average fielding...

I could sort of see the logic behing promoting Jadeja in batting but his stay at the crease was long and painful. He did the exact opposite of what he was sent in to do...

India did not exactly panic till the last 5 overs methinks...and by then it was too late to push for a win

The margin seems too less..just 3 runs...but really India was outthought, outplayed in every sense

hmmm...it seems you are right...nothing worked for india...

media surely is gonna rub it to the hilt...

Megha's called it there, SP.

It was much more than a 3 run defeat, it was a loss that lasted 40 overs.

nc...now that i am getting the hang-up from the blogsphere...yeah it was defeat that lasted full game...

but then...we can only improve from here...coz it can't get worse than this...is it?

thanks Q...

sometimes win glosses over on many glares...an early exit like this was needed for dhoni and co. to look at mirror again...which was very much needed the way they were turning up for the games...so in a way i am not that disappointed...

on another note...its pity that i missed your debate with damith...i checked yesterday...it was really great they way you and D kept it going...

as for rajjaq & co...i think only time will tell whether they are that good to be drafted straight at the cost of players who when they defected kept pak flag flying... :)

SP I don't think wholesale changes are required with the Indian team.

Dhoni made some mistakes but I hope he will learn from them.

If his tactics had paid all of us would have been showering heaps of praises on him but things went wrong and anybody can become wise after having seen the results.

I think that Sehwag's case caused some serious distraction and caused problems for Dhoni in the dressing room, Gambhir stopped firing and other teams figured Rohit's weakness against short pitched stuff.

I didn't expected India to lose from England other than that in T20 WI and SA can beat India they are equally good if not stronger in this format.

I hope Dhoni learns from his mistakes.

wasim its not wholesome changes but bringing in some fresh legs into jaded team...champions trophy is not too far and if we tryout some talents who are knocking on the door and if it gives much needed rest to some players...why not?
