will jatman learn...

shared by straight point on Thursday, May 28, 2009

we all know how jatman (virender sehwag) is fairing since nz tour...its been quite a long time he has played his usual swash buckling innings in a t20 game...and sadly ipl 2009 too was not an aberration...

he needs to shed 'afridisque' arrogance that has crept into his game...slowly but surely...

he seems hell bent to outrun himself...which is clearly not working for him...he should concentrate on shot selection...and most importantly...should not look to manufacture shots...to prove a point...his paddle sweep for probably a single when he was going great guns in semifinals...cost delhi daredevils the slot in ipl 2009 finals...

our strongest point...opening...has become bit of concern...for our campaign to defend the title of t20 world cup champions...

in fact if team india were to defend its world t20 champions title successfully...its no brainer that jatman will have to score and score big...consistently...

so the question is will jatman's complete his usual cricket cycle...?

or will he learn without seeing red...?

SP, India won the T20 world cup finals without Jatman in the playing XI. Also recall him not playing quite a few games then. In 07 he was not part of MSD’s plans, sure, today he is – but a few lapses and I don’t put it beyond MSD either playing him in the middle or not at all.

Though against either Bangla and Ireland, he’ll go mad again, and that can be translated either way.

in 07 yuvraj was in his prime form...even dhoni used to strike ball hard...i can still remember his reverse sweep to flintoff...

sehwag has become very important factor in our setup since then and with him firing at top india can be unstoppable...and will be the team to beat...but only if he knows his real worth...

i wont look much into Veeru's IPL form. His runup to the Chennai Test (319) was pathetic when he was benched in CB series and we all know what happened thereafter.

one problem i cud really see is a bit of over the top tendency to get run out.

I stil feel he would be in tremendous form in World t20. Murtaza should be beware of this man. Sehwag is hungry man right now. Who else but Murtaza to face his wrath. besides a sweet revenge of 2007 WC, a good return to form and a winning start for Indian Royal Challengers. Woops India. IPL is over.

the major issue probably is that when jatman says he is just one good innings away from striking form, he is right for himself! but what if he doesn't get that one good innings in this WC!

haha sam...yes ipl is over...

i really hope and wish that what you said comes true...he goes out on rampage...looking hungrier than ever for runs...

but what if he doesn't get that one good innings in this WC!ankit...then i guess he will see red...?!
