its not only about IPL mr. modi...

now that ipl will march ahead in april...

i hope you know and understand the responsibility of organising IPL season two this time...

its not only about the success of IPL...its also about the future of subcontinent cricket...

i wish that in the razzmatazz of organising glittering event you will better keep this thing in mind...

every cricket lover will be silently praying for its success with throbbing heart from first ball to the last ball of league...

if not for IPL...then for the sake of subcontinent cricket...

update:
another telling comment on organising IPL here @ SP...from megha...

This is just a showcase event. Heck, it is not even the world cup! And if the powers that be want to prove that India is a safe country, then let them prove it by making a tangible effort in making the common man safer. Hold the elections with no incidents and that will be a good start.

absolutely SP,

Mr. Modi has taken a huge responsibility on his shoulders.

and now, it is not on his neck on the line!

yeah...we all would like to see IPL being played from ball one and the last ball safely. btw I found Modi's sofa quite funny. I mean...it was a bit distracting.

P.S: I have blogrolled you.

Cheers

i wud say abt Indian cricket. We aint care takers for Pakistan cricket. so why bother about sub continent ?

i dont agree with u.

we shud bother abt our cricket and the talk on security aspect in Indian cricket is ridiculous after what happened in Pakistan.....

and by going public on the debate of security, mr PC has set a wrong precednt!!

If not for the attacks, would the security have been any less? The threat's been there much before 26/11 and 3/3 and other such chronicled attacks. If anything, this attack makes us heighten our alert while reducing misconceptions.

What worries me is not the safety of the teams and managements, I think that will be top class. But for the common spectator like you, me or anyone else trying to get to the grounds... with such large migrations expected with the elections around the same time, its a tough ask and will stretch our resources and we know only how keen certain groups are to see the IPL fail, so the slightest incident will be blown way out of proportion.

yes ankit...he has put his neck on the line...

sam have you ever heard this famous quote...

"if your neighbour's home is burning and you sleep well, wait for your turn. you are next"

how can we live in isolation when something drastic is happening (or has happened) not so far from us...

india is an integral part of subcontinent and if something untoward happens here the repercussions on subcontinent cricket will be detrimental whether we accept it or not...

straight point said...

NC...there are certain things which are never meant to be tested and stretching the security to its limit is one of those things...

the perception is that india is relatively safe...but even a harmless 'sniff' will be enough for waiting media to blow it out of proportion...

pak closed its eye and srilanks followed it blindly...and we all know what happened to the 'perception'... its better to be cautious then repent it later much

My tuppence worth...
I don't think the IPL is a good idea at the moment. The distractions (read the general elections) are very complicated and the stakes are just too high to be taken lightly. I don't see a point in hosting matches where stadiums and players' hotels become fortresses. This is just a showcase event. Heck, it is not even the world cup! And if the powers that be want to prove that India is a safe country, then let them prove it by making a tangible effort in making the common man safer. Hold the elections with no incidents and that will be a good start.

exactly my sentiments megha...but you have put it better... :)

It is scary... organizing cricket in the sub-continent... And a lot is riding for the future of cricket in the sub-continent in the form of organizing the IPL.

The scary thought is at what price and risk. IF we are to pull out the rabbit's ear in the vain hope that nothing will happen then it is a disaster... sooner or later it will strike.
