haddin does it again...

Replays show that Haddin brought his gloves in front yet again of the first ball of the previous over. No-ball should have been given but it wasn't*
* quoted from cricinfo

...and this is when it happened...

30.1 Clarke to Elliott, no run, short outside the off stump, Elliot looks to cut it away and is beaten

luckily...no one got out...just beaten...

irrespective of whether he does it deliberately or unknowingly i am surprised how he is getting away with this crap...if the commentators who are sitting so far can see it why the heck umpire standing at square leg can't spot it...

i think the most compelling reason that can be given to introduce full technology into making decisions is coz of these dickheads officiating matches...

..and then we recently saw to utter disbelief that even third umpire (another dickhead darryl harper) gave batsman out caught behind when there was daylight between bat and ball...

sometimes i suspect foul play...i feel umps are doing it deliberately to show us the futility of technology...or what can explain these types of blatantly obvious mistakes even after seeing replays?!

now this is the conundrum coz if we won't allow technology or allow it these retards will keep on making it look stupid both ways...

the blogger feel these 'gentlemen' should be thrown to nearest ocean or dug deep in nearest graveyard...

or is there better solution...?

Agreed! It is like a bowler who is chucking. Or a batsman running on the pitch. It has to be put an end to vefore bad blood breaks out again when someone is given out.

Am not watching live so I guess that's all one can say.

before blood breaks out again...

you have said it more aptly SB!...

i always keep cricinfo commentary on on my comp even if i watch live for some different insight into the game...the mail and comments which keeps commin up between text commentary they do...sometimes its better than live commentary...

Ah! Looks like I missed a lot of tamasha... anyway they are loosing the plot and their pompous bursts of their brand of self-righteousness is increasingly looking ridiculous.

I'm not complaining though... nice to watch on the sidelines.

scorpy lol...nice to see you after a while... :)

but what these retard (umps) are there for...is the Q?

Anonymous said...

Just one question, is he the only one who does that, or has the previous incident just made everyone look more carefully at what he does and hence we are seeing him repeat the offence, while others do it but we do not notice?

I think he has to be sorted out because apparently he did it in the second ODI as well. and agree it's the equivalent of chucking.

aussies do it again, and unfortunately i missed it this time as well!

umpires do it again, and not coincidentally they missed it this time as well!

I think umpires generally need to pay more attention to this (not just with Haddin), although from experience it isn't the easiest thing to spot. One of the things that would most benefit from immediate third umpire input, if that is practical.

But do you really think technology is the answer? I did wonder about what you said with foul play with Darryl Harper (not Hair - no need to bring him into any more controversy than he had before he retired!), but that really would be incredible. Either way, it is true that technology can't fix everything by itself. You still need to put a lot of work and though into the people making the decisions. I really think the basics of this (training, not being overworked, even getting travel and visas sorted out) has been neglected at ICC level in favour of high-profile changes like using techonology and having neutral umpires.

SP,

Think the 3rd ump you are referring to is Harper and not Hair..

And you are really questioning their integrity which will end up in you sending an 'apology' sms to da prick :)

I'll also add that I agree that the chucking comparison is a good one.

krishna...

there's no doubt that haddin 'taking' that wicket has alerted them to be more vigil for similar incidents...and tv producers across world will surely be catching it more in future...

but why he was not called for is the question...why umps, match referees and eventually icc is not making any noise about it is puzzling to say the least...

straight point said...

so shall i do it ankit or you will do it urself...hahaha... ;-))

straight point said...

jon...

as i said even if the technology is the answer the one who will interpret is what matters in the end...and thats why i said i feel how can be one so blind to see the obvious...

mean one can understand that if it happens with on field...but on referral...with the luxary of seeing countless replays...its pathetic...

and thanks for reminding me about the mistake...its so that any controversy which starts with darryl...hair gets typed automatically... ;-))

sshhhhhh...namya...

...before harper gets to know about it i have corrected myself...

thanks :)

I agree SP, but I think we have to give him the benefit of doubt.

He should be called in to remodel his action though, but unless someone actually lodges a complaint nothing is going to happen.

And I understand that the Kiwis are intimidated by CA.

And umpires seem to find nothing wrong with what ozzies do.

So it will have to be the evil India again who will have to take action. Which is sad really.

...and jon regarding the difficulty of umps spotting it...if you happen to watch this match live...when clarke released the ball and elliot played it the commentators on air spotted it there and then...and they had front angle to look into while ump standing at square leg had more friendly angle to spot it...

straight point said...

I agree SP, but I think we have to give him the benefit of doubt...

krishna...i too don't know that he is doing it deliberately or not...but even if you deliver beamer unintentionally you are supposed to apologise...and no ball is called...isn't it...

then why letting haddin off...?

is it hard to take him to corner and say look haddin this wont do and you can be suspended/banned for doing it again...

and yes i think evil bcci is the ans... :)

Anonymous said...

Of course he should have apologised.
But for me these are two separate events and should be treated thus.

Ozzies are lucky they lost I think.

straight point said...

Krishna...i was just commenting on 'intentional' part not the end result... :)

and yes fully agree with you...they definitely got lucky by losing that match...

SP, I only saw the second innings live (I was at work for the first). These things certainly aren't hard to spot on some occasions, but I think they also often go unnoticed when there are other things going on.

In defence of the wicketkeepers (other than Haddin, because having gloves in front of the stumps is one thing, pretending that the ball hit the stumps even after seeing replays is another), I think it complicates things that they are allowed to move forward if the ball hits the bat(sman). Some 'keepers seem to anticipate this a bit too much. The answer to this is pretty simple, though - call it just like any other no ball.

straight point said...

yes jon...simple thing is to say no ball...but simple things are hard to follow these days...

like more simpler thing is referee without reprimanding haddin tells him gently that you are 'anticipating too much' this will stop him doing next time coz in the back of his mind he will know that he can get reprimanded for doing again...

but simple things... :)

When is the match referee going to take some action?

are match referees appointed when oz plays Q? ;-))

I don't understand cricket's flirting with technology. Either you make the most of technology or forget it.
Third umpire should be empowered to review every dismissal, without waiting for on-field umpires SMS/SOS...
Enough of flirting, high time cricket got into a serious relationship with technology.

straight point said...

som...

they will have to embrace the technology and cant remain ignorant towards it...thats for sure...

but what worries me even if we use technology the person who gonna interpret can still make the mess of it...like it happened in the case of darryl harper...who inspite of seeing replays gave batsman out...

now the question is what can be done then?
