in comparison, clarke looks like warne bowling alongside him...

batsmen will have orgasm over sight of him coming to bowl...
that's the only way i see him taking wicket...

even cricinfo couldn't control emotions...

don't believe me...? look nowhere but below...

57.6
Clarke to Sharma, SIX, it's two in a row now as Rohit slaps one over deep midwicket to get to 98
57.5
Clarke to Kohli, SIX, on the leg stump, Rohit steps down the track and lofts it over deep midwicket for a six. At the first sight, it seemed as if it did not have enough to clear the fence
57.5
Clarke to Sharma, (no ball) 1 run, oversteps and on the leg stump, pushes to midwicket for a single
57.4
Clarke to Sharma, no run, on the off stump, comes forward and defends it

He's gone all defensive already...the middle and leg, and moutside leg line for an off-spinner without a doosra! doh!

It is possible Australians tend to overrate off spinners because they don't do too well against them compared to leggies and SLAs. Murali in Oz is of course an exception. That could be behing this gent's selection.

That said, most ozzie players begin their international careers clumsily or power-based batting or bowling (there are a few exceptions like Mark Waugh, Clarke from this team).

Overrate off spinners?

He averages 40 in australian cricket, I am not sure most people even rate him, so i doubt anyone could over rate him.

Krejza is useless. It was apalling that they picked him ahead of Casson for the Indian tour, not that Casson is any good either.

I'm just thanking my lucky stars that he's playing in the warmup game and getting tonked. It should mean that he won't get picked for the Test.

The Indians missed a trick here. They should have played him with respect, let him get 2/80 or something and then destroy him in the Test.

Now we'll play four quicks, hopefully.

David,

4 quicks being Lee, Clark, Johnson and Watson?

They have another guy called Bollinger is it not?

Homer said...

Bollinger is left arm fast medium.. Will Oz take two left arm bowlers and drop one of Clark or Watson?

Ad if that happens, the bowling attack will be 2 leftie pacers, 2 leftie spinners and one rightie fast bowler.. And a 6 batsmen setup!

Very interesting...

Cheers,

SP - that's a migraine for a score-sheet. more like a score-cheat.

Don't recall last time Sharma (Kohli?, Rohit?) hit the ball that far. He was made for the leagues, warmup games.

SP.. I had written earlier.. Clarke will be the main spinner in the Aussie line up this time.. :)

I would go with Lee, Clark (these two pick themselves), Johnson, Bollinger. I don't mind if Watson plays as well - the attack would be boring, but at least if Johnson was ineffective we'd have plenty of backup.

The over-rate would be a concern though. Australians quicks get through overs very slowly. I don't understand why.

i can see why punter balding fast SB!!

this is not the case of overrating...this is simply living in dream land...they cant be so bad in assessing a player...

UJ if you know it then i guess someone in CA must be knowing it too...

why so much of obsession to have a spinner?

straight point said...

a warm welcome DB...

thats an interesting angle...hmmm...we definitely missed the trick out there... :)

i dont know why they are so engrossed with the thought of having a spinner when they dont have any?

SA has shown that you can come with all pace attack and still win here...

or unless they being generous to accord all paid holidays to whoever rolls arm in the name of spinner?

straight point said...

homer left armers or not...they should pick their best attack...

but what i am wondering is what happened to the depth of talent (in bowling) CA supposed to have?

straight point said...

exactly NC!!

even cricinfo commentator was having a ball... :)

but kohli boy is striding fast after each outing...good for him and team india...

straight point said...

tri...yes going by what we are seeing clarke looks like a top spinner in comparison... :)

Ausies may call Beau Casson as McGain is ruled out of the test series. Casson has played more tests than Kreja. I don't get it why Aus did not prefer Casson to Kreja and McGain in the first place.

warm welcome sri and thanks for dropping by...

regarding casson...i thought that its bcci who works in arbitrary manner...

CA is catching up fast... :)
