transformation redux...

shared by straight point on Saturday, October 18, 2008

as i am writing this dhoni has scored 38 of 47 balls...

more than the runs most seems pleasantly surprised by the fact that how he has handled the bowling with positive intent...which was missing in his earlier endeavors...

not this blogger...

SP spotted this persona of his as early as fab 2008 during series down under...

check this out

Transformation...

spotted something common...?

yes...today he is batting as 'captain' dhoni...

Update:
that was as ordinary decision as one could get...looks that was only way one would have denied dhoni well deserved century...

PS:
rudi by all standard is having very poor outing...first he didn't referred sg upstairs for reasons best known to him...and now this shocker...

SP,

Sometime i feel that Dhoni is two different players when he is a captain and when he is playing only as a player... looks a lot more involved in the game when he is the captain..

Pan,

Normally this sort of behaviour is deemed selfish.:)

straight point said...

yes tri...he plays different brand of captain and as player...

straight point said...

i am not sure if its selfish or not...i have seen lot of ppl gets transformed into different man once the responsibility is given to them...

but yes he can play like this then why not as player too...

may be there is some confusion in assigning roles by another captain?

otherwise what can explain his last effort of 9/51...?

Under normal circumstances and when applied to a person other than MSD, I'm with Ott on this one. :)

However, if captaincy can keep our darindaa in the aadmi mode, I'll take it all!

straight point said...

yes its highly subjective SB!!

but i will take 'aadmi' too SB!! :)

(no in aadmi hoon aadmi se pyar karta hooon mode)

;-))

Why selfish guys? Dont we see it in the corporate world where some people do better when in positions of responsibility, while others do better when not. Its all but natural.

SP - Batting aside, just look at the shrewd enrgy MSD brings when on the field. suddenly everyone appears to be part of a plan. That comment to Mishra will only add to MSD lore.

comparisons with jumbo have started. and will continue till mahi gains full control. A bloodless coup.

re his improved batting, reckon MSD believes that the test captaincy is his destiny. And being in control (of his destiny) adds that extra spark.

Well in Pakistan we call it leg pulling.
Its an interesting point Dhoni has really done well as a captain than playing as a player,I don't think responsibility has to do anything with it as even when you play as a player your ultimate responsibility is to perform to the best of your abilities for your country and your team in any situation, but I will give him a margin of doubt as this was a flat track and all the Indian batsmen performed better than their last few outings.

its great to see dhoni leading india..the team responds to him more than kumble..its so obvious to an outsider.

its the end of kumble!

exactly q...i too am not sure why we call this act as selfish...

...just look at the shrewd energy MSD brings when on the field. suddenly everyone appears to be part of a plan.

this is best thing about dhoni...shrewd mind...shrewd energy...

ds...i think delhi is a fitting venue for him to retire where he took 10 wickets in an innings...
