so we decoded you correctly...

in one stroke you have put an end to never ending ganguly debate which was gaining the prospect of big distraction before india-oz series...but also managed to give us preview of things to come in badri and amit mishra...

mishra ji's selection is specially inspired one...for he was not even included in recent domestic games...goes to show you have keen eye on set of players you are looking for...

it also shows that you see more urgency in looking for another spinner than a batter...

badri inclusion will boost his confidence to no end considering his recent outings were nothing to write about...but you respected his talent and consistent performance over longer period...now he can concentrate on his batting without worrying about his selection call...

but 15 players for home series?

thats one too many...

is your guess is as good as mine who that extra player is? ;-)

mishra bhaiyaji wud be groomed as Kumble 's heir apparent after Chawla praji disappointed!!

not much point if mishra doesn't get a chance to play because who knows if he'll make the cut next time in this game of musical chairs. anyway, kudos to the selectors anyway for picking him.

Including Mishra and Badri wont serve the purpose if they are not included in the playing XI. ANd that is most likely to happen.

buzzz

i don't know if chawla was considered good prospect for longer version of game...for me he still has long way to go...while our mishraji is finished product...ready to be replaced...

sumit...i think now that he is picked ahead of ojha and chawla...he will be persisted with...

tri

i cant say about mishraji but badri is not helping his cause even a bit...his form has nose dived and he even failed today...i think he is putting unnecessary pressure on himself...should just go out and play as he was playing...

SP,
When someone has waited so long.. its difficult to stay calm when u get that chance. But unfortunately its not helping him at all..

Ya Amit Mishra's inclusion seemed as if he was air dropped out of nowhere

straight point said...

yup tri...but that's what temperament, mental strength is all about...

his talent has taken him thus far...now he has to show the virtue of other qualities as well...

very well put AB!!

seeing you here after a while ;-)

the teams are for the first two tests, which suggests that if peeps were to fail in the first two, they'd be replaced by the surplus stock in the last. And when there's money to be hived off the mountain, why not spread it on some poor fellow's toast.

Jokes apart, the benchmarkers should be playing Ranji instead. Just the extra player is enough...fielders can be summoned from local bodies.

sb - sure they can be playing ranji, but imagine what it would be for Mishraji to be in there, n breathe that so-called exalted air of the indian dressing room. And didn't we want it all along? Like he was some long lost kin!

Trideep said...

SP,
If mental strength is not there.. he is not fit to play at this level.

straight point said...

SB...though i too am for selecting 13 players max for home series...

but don't you think this is for far settled team than we are at present...?

and also if they want to groom certain set of players...no better way than let them share same dressing room with seniors...their experience...etc...

straight point said...

exactly NC!!

the valable knowledge they will game by just being there observing them how the prepare...how the take pressure will be far better for them...

let them while or senior last... :)

straight point said...

tri...he would not have come thus far had he lacked in there...

i think he is finding it bit difficult to find a way to handle the transition...but i am sure he will being class player he is...

Trideep said...

SP,
He has till now performed really well in the domestic circuit.. Talent is enough to do that.. it takes mental strength and temperament to perform successfully at international level.. he has not done well at this level till now.. Hope he can show the required temperament & perform at the highest level.

Good news... he ought to be the first choice spinner apart from the two usual suspects we have.
