hard but fair...

the one match ban on gambhir...that is...

while watson the provoker walks off with 10% of his match fees...gauti will be cooling his heels...deservedly so...for being stupid enough to do what he did...

goes to show that we are still learning the art of playing 'hard but fair'...

barge on umpires...hold on the play...
keep on arguing with'em over decisions you don't like...
call'em with choicest explicit adjectives...
name their wives...ask who's is bedding them...

anything...

but don't you ever touch'em...

it was very clear that watson shouldered his run path for a moment only to withdraw at last moment of impact and gambhir being foolish did what he did...in retaliation...

but the difference was...while watson being 'professional' knew when to withdraw...gg being new learner of this 'art' got sucked into it...

hope this will serve as good lesson on how to do it...

one day, we will also learn this art of being 'invisible' to concerned officials...

PS
will it have been miscarriage of justice had he waited? why broad could not have announced the ban at the end of days play...?

agree - hard but fair.

But the Indian cricket team needs to learn clever sledging - even better ones that swear words - because I doubt the cricketers get offended by that language anymore :)

GG unavailable for Nagpur, helps Australia finally breach India's opening pair. could make a telling diff on the test's outcome.

i think if he appeals...he plays...

Pan could be right. Until the appeal is heard Gautam can play. The problem is if the ruling is upheld he may have to miss the first test against England.

Personally, I think Gautam should have accepted the ruling and serve out the ban.

He deserves it.

The ruling is fair I hope he learns from it.

OTT...

he deserves it more coz it should be used as template for others specially indian players who are revering in this newly found aggression...

hmmm...please elaborate TRI...

Whenever we are on top, we have been discouraged by the opponents and we cheerfully accepted. Why our official come into it to protest? Strange!!!

SP,

GG no doubt was at fault. But Watson & Katich were no saint. And GG's offence was not 10 times that of Watson. Still its GG who suffered. Thats unfair.

thats fair point Tri...

but the difference here is that they did not 'touched'...

had gg just withdrawn elbow at last moment...we infact nobody would have been discussing this...

Trideep said...

That doesnt meant that abusing is not an offence...

straight point said...

it is tri...

but no sports allows contact...otherwise we will see them blowing each other...

having said that, i am fully with you that there is not place for abuse either...and the tone of my post reflects that too...although sarcastically... :)

Yes SP. But cannot help anything... Guess Gambhir will have to sit out one test.

straight point said...

not coming test though...

he will have to sit the first match of eng series given his appeal is unsuccessful...

cheers!!

Trideep said...

Yes SP, thats y i said one test...not necessarily the next

I dont think it was fair at all. Watson provoked him so it shud have been equal treatment. Both banned or both fined 10%.

They need to learn SP... if you can't beat them, learn to join them in the same art... the problem is these guys get emotional in their retaliation and do something stupid.

Who is for a sledging coach and who is the nominee? LOL
