gilchrist's true colors...

continuing the latest fad of bowing to sensationalism...

adam gilchrist is reported to be coming with his true colours...

and in the world of breaking news and convenient leakages...this is what is filtering in media...

Gilchrist surprisingly hinted at tensions with Tendulkar, revealing he was "hard to find for a changing room handshake after we have beaten India", and questioned his honesty during the monkey gate scandal.

RS of anythng sporty without defending sachin's character, asks this pertinent question from him:

how easy would it be to stand for the IPL auction, but then make a statement by turning down the offer, saying you wanted no part in an event that is primarily organized by a board and largely involving players that you believe hold the game to ransom.

and in this context read what our own sunil gavaskar said some time back...

The manner in which some people bad mouth India all the time but are the first on the plane to India when it is a question of making some easy money is well known and because we in India are a lot more tolerant than others it is being taken advantage of. Whenever there is an interview to be given to the papers back home it is invariably with a dig at India and Indians.

Why there are several who refer to India as "thats f-----g India for you" and still have the shamelessness to stay on and earn money here because they are pretty much unemployable back home. Indian cricket is like a river of gold and there are many who are dipping their hands in it with no loyalty whatsoever to India but only to their bank managers back home.

my friend scorpicity of cricket fizz while commenting on another friend soulberry's blog tcwj, highlighted this...

Statement of facts signed by Adam Gilchrist himself and accepted by all parties.

[9] As a consequence Mr Jordan called those witness who signed the agreed statement other than Mr Gilchrist who was unwell, to give evidence of their recollection of what occurred. It was accepted by all counsel that Mr Gilchrist’s evidence was to the effect that he did not hear anything and there was no prejudice to Mr Singh by his absence.

oh, i also found this gem from gilly...

"There used to be a bloke who gave himself out by walking when he'd hit the ball. The popularity of that within his team-mates may be shown by the fact that since his retirement, they no longer reply to any emails, phone calls or text messages."

Adam Gilchrist
gives a tongue-in-cheek response to his own philosophy of 'walking'

Oct 12, 2008

i know...i know...you were feeling neglected...no one was coming to you...even your team mates 'walked' on to you...and you desperately wanted something to tell world...look...i am alive...

but so much to sell a book gilly?

how aptly you have titled you book...

true colours...

you may be able to sell some extra copies to some cheap stakes...

but in doing so...you have lost a true fan of yours across border...that's me...

i know it won't bother you...

but i think i am not alone...and this might bother you...

update

This is the most telling comment i have come across on latest fad of spilling bins to cash in...from Wasim Bhai (as i fondly call him) from cricket files...

Why do these Goras remember integrity and honesty when its time to make money?

Whether its the use of mint or any other controversy they always reveal the supposed truth when they have to sell a book.Until then the so called truth is hidden in a closet like a lucrative investment which can only be cashed in future when the time is right to sell.

I think the Deccan chargers are hit by another setback.

thank you wasim bhai...for enlightening insight into psyche behind this latest fad...

Harbhajan had obviously called Symonds "ma-ki-chut". "Ma-ki" sounds like "monkey" to an Australian. To an Indian "ma-ki-chut" is a much bigger insult than "monkey". To an Australian "monkey" is a racist insult stemming from Darwin's theory of evolution which states that monkeys are lower on the evolutionary ladder than humans. So to call someone a monkey is to say that they are inferior. Symonds probably got called "monkey" a great deal in his youth in Britain and Australia by his white classmates. The trouble is that the Indians feel bashful about explaining the misunderstanding because they don't want to use the word "ma-ki-chut" which as most Indians know means motherf*cker. Because of this Australians are convinced to this day that every Indian has been lying about the incident including Tendulkar. Wich is pretty stupid in itself...

good thought buzzz...

so in any case he has harmed himself (and his team) more than anybody?

Anonymous said...

one thing is for sure Sachin is going to reply him with his bat and that augurs bad for Aussies....

Double whammy of Tendulkar, Kumble and of course the home grown boys!!

straight point said...

yup buzzz...lets wait for the game to begin...

and if sachin really fires i can already visualize punter & co. running after gilly's life...

First and foremost, Sachin is not beyond reproach. Secondly, it's Gilly's autobiography and he is entitled to his opinion. Thirdly, in order to publicise the book, he used a completely different article which was based on the birth of his son. It is the Indian public that have made a mountain out of a molehill along with the media who as always, love to sensationalise. So get over it. And SP,I don't think Gilly will be crying over losing you and other Sachin fanatics as fans as he still has loyal ones here. Fans who know that he isn't a saint but isn't afraid of saying so.

your comment forced me to re-read my own post once more...and i am yet to find a word written in defending sachin leave alone a sentence...

for someone who seemed to play within the spirt of the game in his playing days, he seems to have forgotten it altogether since hes left.

i firmly disagree SP, i firmly believe he is one of the truest gentlemen of the game. From a very successful team like Australia, he could have been any nonsense hiding behind an emotion called 'aggression'. He never did so, a man who keeps his self even after endless success is a rarity in modern cricket era. It was evident that his teammates didn like him walking, but he didn care..

and also, Gavaskar is not the right person to comment, i still remember what he spoke after the presentation ceremony of the England series 2011. He spoke of the brand of cap worn by Broad, about how he didn bow(apparently) to get his medal, how they took the sponsor's trophy instead of the pataudi trophy.. and rightly Harsha sais, 'lets concentrate on cricket'. I wish he changed.. and at the end of it, Pataudi was disappointed by the team's performance and BCCI and not how England behaved..

and that sachin did not come to wish the winning team was a fact, so did the controversy he created at the hearing. And i believe Gilly is mature enough to state his thought clearly.. If one is against Shoaib's book, am by your side because he is a foul mouth.. Gilly isn't..

and Indians dont play in other leagues because
a) they aren allowed to eg. SLPL
b)they might be banned eg ICL
c) they are paid better than any sport persons in the country(7L per test, 2.4L per ODI and 1L per T20)
4)they have packed international Calendars
5)They earn more through ADs then from equivalent man hrs on the field
6)they are actually injured
7)they are faking an injury
