get your swan song ready boys...

are we gonna see last of them...together?

little did i knew that i will be using this phrase so quickly just after my previous post...couple of days ago...but this news at toi has forced me to use it again...

so guys go get it...get your swan song ready...

ah...i know cricket songs are very rare but we have got talent as well as songs for every occasion in india...don't we?

let me introduce you to gaurav of naked cricket...and these are his offerings...i bet you will fall over it...to say the least...

emmm...nuff of pleasantries exchanged...coming to business end of this news...

The BCCI has already made its stand clear, saying that the senior players should approach the Board with their future plans so that they can be accorded an honorable farewell.

and this part

For example, if a player wants to be considered for the next two series (vs Australia and England), he will have to formally intimate the BCCI that he would quit after that.

It will be subsequently made public. The selectors will then draw up a plan to groom his replacement to ensure that the transition is smooth.

the first few expressions which came to my mind after i read this news were...why this should be made public at all? are they putting indirect (or direct) pressure on our seniors by using media as platform? can't they find any guy with bit of gut to call them (read bell them)...or sit with them to have one on one...?

i don't have problem with...that knowing their future plans they will groom certain set of players which they deem fit as their reasonable replacements...

i don't even have any problem with management planning their farewell...befitting their stature and the services they rendered...and i sincerely believe...without an iota of doubt that......if we are treated as some force in world stage...most of that credit should go to them...

but what you get in return...this media trial?

its one thing criticizing them for their performances (or non performances) and its another thing altogether to make the mockery of them and subject their integrity to this trial...

what's your first thoughts when you read this news...

am interested...

SP - the news was the pits. Whether it is a board member speaking on conditions of anonymity or with the BCCI's consent, it sucks.

OTH, is this the board's last resort? After the famous five refused to budge. Doubt we’ll ever know. Unless one of these guys gets pissed drunk and pours his heart out to us.

a bit of both...

its pity as well as their last resort the way it has appeared suddenly in media...before the start of series...

i guess somebody in the board is just pre-empting the outcry that goes up from ex-cricketers and media every time a senior is dropped - "is this the way to treat them after so many years of service?". the point is that no dignified exit is possible if a player will hang on to his position.

yes sumit...

the more you read this more you tend to come to conclusion that its just an exercise to wash hands of possible controversy...

did you read it in Times of India ? i had a hearty laugh on reading this. And i cud really wonder on the obsession the media gets from the wonderful batsmen of india.

and the worst was being written by Sumit in his blog. Kick out seniors, no replacements from youth bridage.

sachin as opener in Tests, Sehwag in middle order. Ojha in place of Kumble and Badrinath for Dravid :))

Yuvraj unfit, Sharma and Raina unproved. So they dont get in. Then who ? Roadside players to compete against Aussies ?

Now the writing in media is getting to a bored level when they rant the same thing again and again....

get some other topic mate :)

Oz tour is the most important tour of fab-4. This will decide whether they will stay on or not.
For players of such stature ... a proper farewell is a must.. But then how often has that happened in India.

First impression = disgust. Can it get any worse for the seniors? Why can't anybody talk to them? No one's got the guts I presume.

Kapil needs to start an ICL for Test cricket. Fab four can quit India and join that - then these jokers will know what they're missing. They will get the bucks, and we will still get to watch them.

SP - off topic: Raina scored a bustling, big 100 vs. NZL A on Tuesday. That's timing. Even stale minds can't overlook something that fresh. Chopra or Raina? Or Dada?

india has had history of stretching it too far to the point that ppl start asking when rather then why

only exception was SMG...

I think its a smart move, very few players in Subcontinent have ever opted for an honorable exit, and these four given the money they make are no exception they will do whatever possible to extend their careers, Bcci has signaled its intent and thrown the ball in their court now the countdown has begun these guys should react positively and I hope that every thing works out for them in an honorable way they truly deserve it.
I am sure Bcci can give them some sort of management/coaching positions to ensure that these guys continue to earn more money in future and also stay close to the game they love.
