fab-four to fat-four ?

to re-phrase kumble...

only one player was playing cricket...

and this is not the first time this has happend...as if its india's official strategy to leave scoring to sehwag only...

and what can be said to our pedigreed fab-four turned fat-fours ?

their's were soft dismissals will be putting it mildly...for the third successive time...

only vvs out of fat-four has shown some inclination to fight it out in middle...but thats that...

no words on sachin. *puts finger on lips*

dravid and ganguly are like competing on live reality show of who will go first...from indian team i.e.

and what the hell kumble was thinking when he sent dravid at no. 3 for all his diffidence...is it rocket science that your best batsmen (who is scoring i.e.) should go there at one down?

its high time he start evaluating players not from his memory but on current performances...mere being goodie wont do...ask dravid he is live example of that infront of you...

take some decision maan...that's what captains are for...

if you forget about big names...i would like to see what worse rohit will do under these conditions...specially when india's next assignment is gonna be oz...

any takers?

"only one player was.." Not that funny yet very funny! Can be Sehwag's new sign off, as the earlier "unstoppable" was an ipl exclusive.

Game is set up, and if the weather holds, I'd say Lanka are in a better position.

Get Sanga and Mahela early, and it'll be a diff story.

gaurav, infact if we get sanga and mahela early we will be in better position...remember pitch has already started playing game and they have to play last...

but do we have bowlers?

warna pura faida lay raha hai!

straight point said...

hahaha gaurav... nice one...

but tell me...

ok sl have M & M but we still have class on or side...which should offset their advantage...

on the other side they are playing with virtually two bats of proven class...which should say balance our bowlers inefficiency...

that still not happening...isn't its a statement on how pathetic has been our bowling specially spin bowling?

with DK missing any chances off this bowling, it could be another painful match for India.

so he(Sehwag) comes back to CARRY his BAT...it was a good innings though to come back like this but yes...time is running out for the stalwarts...

is the mental game getting to them finally with age...?

straight point said...

yes RS...its going to be another painful match...but if some good comes out of this 'manthan' like a spot for yougster in reserved-for-life-middle-order i am game for it...

straight point said...

UTP...they all have over cooked M&M in their minds and now paying the price of it...

I dont think my comment adheres to the post. Neverthe less, I found you from another blog in which you had commented on the Indian Contingent. Although I agree to an extent with what you had posted i also disagree a bit nevertheless. Yes winning matter! But then there are a few more factors why the Indian contingent is just 57 in numbers and Kalamadi has remarked that we should not hope for much. Read at :

An excellent article that really makes you wonder.

first of all a warm welcome...do keep coming...

...and thanks juno for chasing me down for my sins... ;-))

jokes apart...a very wonderful and thought provoking link...

but what i wanted to say that to grab the attention, enthusiasm and inspiration of youngsters any sports must have their winners or at least who competed...not merely participated...

that's why nation still remembers milkhas...ushas...to name a few...

Virender Sehwag is a valuable batsman, is shown from the fact that on good days he can win you matches. It's good to judge a player on his good day at office, as a zero on a bad day, can't distinguish a top order batsman from a tail-ender, as the increment to the team total in the latter scenario in both the cases is zero.
Just to add a bit to what SP has said. People have to build their respective careers in any field on a certain USP. it's a very conscious effort. A example here will suffice.
Prince, a singer, is acknowledged as a living genius all over the world, no matter how much you know his talent, whether one has listened him or not, anybody who knows his name, is thrust upon the fact that he is a genius.
And through out his career, he has carefully created and nurtured this USP.
I want to link the above story to Kumble's career.
He is one of the top bowlers in Test cricket today, opponenets consider him a real threat on good days; but through out his career, when it mattered, he couldn' make his achivements count. It is rediculous that a player of his stature got the Test captaincy only when Sachin endorsed it.
Media says, he is denied his due, but i think he himself failed to create and nurture USP for himself.
And this affecting his captaincy.

some analogy ab.
for starters kumble could call himself something like Symbol (wasn't that one of Prince's aliases) - and Anil bhai is very symbolic.

Hats off to Sehwag. It was his match completely thus far. It angers me that Sachin doesn't face even a fraction of the flak that Ganguly and Dravid have been facing. No one ever say Sachin and sack in the same sentence. I would persist with the duo that you see to sack, SP. Some people will put up with any number of Yuvraj-ian failures. Is that only because he is young? Or because he turns it on, once in a bluemoon when he choses to? But that is another story alltogather.

Other than Sehwag, Gambhir and Laxman the whole Indian batting line up has been disappointing, nobody else has been able to read Mendis properly.
They will only pick him up if they focus on his grip it will make him predictable. He is not an ordinary bowler yes he has five different grips but all the spinners alter their grip to bowl their differrent deliveries.
The match is still poised and if India takes a few early wickets tommorrow they can gain some advantage.

very interesting analogy on USP AB!!

i cant see kumble going beyond oz series as captain and once he is not captain he will find it very hard to find a place in the team...is my assessment...

straight point said...

VM!!

you wont give up on dravid & co. will you? :)

the case with them is that while sachin showed sparkling form not too long ago...whilst dravid has appeared far too shaky of his stature...for quite a while now...to the point it has really started to hurt...

straight point said...

exactly wasim...

they should take a clue from sehwag...the way he played both mendis and murli...specially mendis...who he treated like a club bowler yesterday...

Anonymous said...

yes, Rohit should be given test cap. he can prove his worth under pressure too. But we need at least 3 alternate batsmen to replace, unfortunately we have in squad only one i.e.RS. All the three performing equal...who would be the best for Rohit?

straight point said...

i am glad that someone touched upon RS...SA!!

of the fab four dravid appears more fallible than others so i would include RS for RD...

Anonymous said...

With you....RS for RD. Chop!!!

Sachin played like a noob today....lacked patience and maturity. Dravid showed some stirrings of success but Murali speared one in.

its amazing SB, how so much experience evaporates in thin air when serious questioned are asked...

even he knew it was trap for him to keep bowling outside and still threw it away like teenager in his early days...now this is his forth successive soft dismissal...

dravid survived anyhow ball kept hitting his pads lots of close appeals but to give him he kept his focus and then when it seems he is getting in his groove played shot against his very technique...no wonder he was so livid on himself?...

Gaurav Sethi said...

SP, SB - there was something about RD's review, that Mahela chatted up the umpire before asking for a review.
SRT will score in the last test, break record etc. Hopefully the series will still be alive.

straight point said...

yup gaurav...i donno but umps are not bound to give explanation to anybody wonder what doctrove was doing there...

it will take a while for upms for getting used to right now they seem be unsure of themselves...

...and thats what srt will do...to keep everyone at bay...this is the most blemish part about sachin he never sees india thru...he got start and threw it away splendidly...

Anonymous said...

@SP, :) nope not giving up yet. Btw, that was an fighting RD innings today. Curious to see what SG does tomorrow.

Trideep said...

Hey SP...

Well u cant ignore Sehwag can u.. First match he plays as if he is the most irresponsible of the lot.. 2nd match he plays as if he the best there is....its best u leave him alone n let him play like he wants..

about the fab4.. they are really going thru a very bad patch... ntns going rt for them..

but atleast India are doing well in this match... guess.. thats what matters!!!

straight point said...

VM...ummmed pe hi duniya kayam hai...:)

straight point said...

tri...yes winning matters...especially it comes from the effort of 2-3 players... ;-))

floppy drives still comes as standard fitments...but nobody uses them scorpy :)

and once they become commentators i would like to see their face commenting on what is graceful retirement... ;-)
