the cupboard of our pace bowlers which was full, live and kicking not so long ago...wears a bare look to it now...
so, where are the bowlers??
or should i say...
fit bowlers...??
India has history of squeezing out last owns of energy from a bowler who shows semblance of bowling form by bowling him day in day out...
so he must play EVERY inconsequential game coz we MUST win every inconsequential match...
yesterday it was zaheer...
today its ishant...
tomorrow...lets wait...let a bowler win us a match or two and we will bowl him out to death...like its written on stone...
lets have a look of prospective list of pace bowlers who can make it to indian team...
zaheer (not fit)
rp (half fit)
sreesanth (fit?)
Ishant (we don't even know)
munaf (he is fit...wait a minute not fit...no fit...again?)
pathan (going by his recent outings in india you wont even bother if he is fit or not...)
i may be harsh on pathan...but i stand by my words...
then who(?)
my fear is that...its not the end...its the beginning...
after this test series we will have IPL for full 42 days!! with a match or two everyday...
then we will be playing tri series in Bangladesh...then...then...then...
oh did i tell you there will be small matter that summer will be nearing its peak here...
when we talk about summer here...its not like summer of say england where people go out to picnic...and take sun bath....it gets bloody hot out there...but never mind...
every time selectors talks about rotation policy...(please control your chuckle)...almost every body talks about how our batsmen (specially some senior ones) needs to be rotated...how we should rest them enough so they remain in good shape to pile huge scores on bowler's death bed...forget about the balls they feed in nets so that these batters remain in form...
and no ones talk about this genre...the bowlers...the rotation of bowlers...
don't they deserve to have some rest...?
then, how we should preserve bowlers...?
who will stand for this endangered species...?
and more importantly will you hand over bowl to your son?
lots of questions...any answers??
or should i talk after IPL...(pun intended)
update: complete and uncensored(?) john gloster's fitness report ...courtesy smoke signals...

Munaf - he will do the trick at Kanpur.
holy shit...
how could i forget him...
...may be he is that kind of guy...
btw, welcome back OTT after long long time...
i have updated post...by including munaf...thanks OTT for reminding me... :))
I heard Gary Kirsten has told Venkatesh Prasad to be ready to come out of retirement. Logistic manager Russel Radhakrishnan and masseur Ramesh "kaka" Mane are also rolling their arms in the nets. They have been with the team, and the bowlers, for so long and must have picked their brains, argued Kirsten. So we need not panic.
ho ho ho....som...quite hilarious...
We should rather think on why our (few players) bowlers/batsman gets injured (unfit) who are well in form and putting their valuable contribution to the team. and why the players who are not in form, doing nothing for team and still they get chance.
We have lot of youth knocking the door to enter, they should be given chances why shree..RP or any other. Why they have the stickers of alternative of best players...why don't new comers chaps...

welcome SA!
i think in recent past we have given chances to so many yougsters that yo will loose count...there will always be knocking some one at the door...let them earn indian cap...by sheer performances not by 'rotation' policy...
is what i feel...
SP,
becoz they're cannon fodder. and the board won't rest till they're plain fodder.
haha NC...
going by trends even that day is not too far...
what about praveen kumar..i want all this bowler to be kicked out and go to domestic cricket and prove their fitness! I feel we should give new players chance...this is really weired we make half fit players play the game and they cant play the full 5 days...it shame on us!
do you really think praveen will be helpfull on these dead wickets??
yea...its really a shame that we repeat the same mistakes time and again...
wonder when we will learn lessons??
SP
I am talking about Irfan (on regular basis), munaf, praveen kumar, joginder singh who have at least some experience......not talking about satish, binny, billoo etc.....
SA
of your four players three are getting regular chances of late...
i am sure you were joking about joginder sharma??
Where's VRV in this mix?
I expect him to be in it next season surely if he has one as good as the last one.
Fitness is developed over time...the body needs to be put through the proper paces and nutrition around mid-teenage stage.
And in the right way.
What is done later on...in most of Indian bowlers' cases...isn't as beneficial and can lead to breakdowns.
That's one reason why Kapil Dev rarely had fitness problems and whatever he did have, he had enough gas left in the tank to ride through them. He started fitness training early and did most things right besides having natural ability. His coach insisted on fitness training when Kapil was a 14-15 yo kid. That's what he once said in an interview during his playing days.
somehow VRV does not inspire much confidence in me...
and yes its amazing how kapil went doing his business without fitness issues...inspite of bowling mostly on flat subcontinent pitches...
its also pity that now we can not utilize his experience due to tussle between icl and bcci...
Gnaguly for the new ball... yeah.... yay... the opposition will give their wickets laughing.
