for batting...

every youngster selected for this series should look this series as make or break series and put price tag on his wicket…nothing less than over my dead body will do…if they are to be called future of indian cricket...

if not for anything than just for the fact that they have got this golden opportunity bcoz collective experience of over 20k runs has been sacrificed for them....and they should respect that…and remember that...

for bowling...
i can safely predict that if our current lot of pacers are handled well any team will think twice before giving us green top...

it was a sight to watch ishant and sree bowling yesterday...and it felt nice to see that now we have got bowlers who can give it back what our batters have received all their life...

moment of the day!!

for those who saw the match live...and for those who didn't...the moment of the day was when tiwari was sitting next to sachin soaking up whatever he was sharing…like a true student!! where on earth one can get this experience...

the senior was preparing the younger one before passing on the baton...priceless!!

What was he sharing? Hot chocolate? If so, it's a bit cruel if Sachine forces people to soak up what he's sharing, and not drink it.

Ah well. Each to his own.

SP... Bowling is looking quite ok and bright for the future. Like you said, the new lot better put a price tag on their wicket.

Atheist LOL.

scorpy...

they will have to...better they learn it while playing...not when cooling heels on bench...

i likes his batting too...but that shot was atrocious...considering that could have been the last ball of his second spell...

KP said...

true....but again that showed his inexperience.......:)

I see ur point.....you fail to understand....they havenot even played more than 10 games.....give them some time will ya?

what if they (Gangu,Dravid and Laxman) got out then what will you say?

Try to look at the bigger picture...we should aim for 2011 WC...:)

Sachin gave advice on how to kick your stumps down i suppose.

KP

i think you took it otherway...is you see my previous post to this you will realize i have said exactly the same...

but there should not be a place for stupidity...he has played enough cricket to know what is going on...

SP,

Why?

Why should the batsmen consider this series, played in alien conditions with very little build up against the World Champions and the runners up, to be a make or break series?

And if that pressure is not enough, why must they, in addition to that, remember that they are there because of "sacrifices" ?

They are there because they have performed sufficiently impressively in whatever format they have been assessed under and found good enough to be in the India team.

Simple as that.

And while making the call on the batsmen, remember where the World Cup is going to be played next - if Manoj Tiwary bowls his brand of leg spin, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina off spin, Yuvraj Singh left arm orthodox, then, in the batting line up, bar Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, there are no other single dimensional players.

And if the multi dimensional players can give me 5 overs for 20 runs, score 20 odd runs and save 10 on the field, I will take it .

Cheers

welcome ILA thanks for dropping by...

yea, its a great news...

homer...

yes and no.

yes there is little buildup...and these are alien conditions and they will require some time to get uses to...

i wanted to use the word dumped but to respect 20k runs used the word sacrifice...

no bcoz...

whatever be the conditions bad shots are bad shots. period.

i believe sensing from your comments that you did not saw the match live...coz otherwise please tell me which one of the dismissal was due to 'alien conditions'...

once you are in dont throw you wicket just like that as rohit sharma found out today there is always a bad decision looming around corner a brilliant run out and one can easily loose way...thats why my importance for not throwing wicket. any problem with that notion!?

my post was also written with hidden fear that we are very impatient with defeats and things can take same turn like in SA tour couple of useless ODI failures and we were back to square one...

for these yougsters and selectors sake i sincerely hope that they be fairly succesful to keep this process going...and after seeing the fate of SA series...yougsters should be doubly determined they this time they will not give in easily...and hence over my dead body attitude...

Make or break series?

For Gambhir, yes.

For others like Tiwary, Sharma and Uthapa, Nah.

CG, it took ganguly five long years to make a comeback in indian team for that one fateful debut innings in oz...

our system has its own way to react to failures and i was reflecting only that fear...

or wait till CB series is over...

SP,

I would persist with this team till the end of the year - unless the team gameplan changes and someone else fits the bill perfectly or some one is palpably out of form and deserves to be dropped or there is someone on the outside in exceptional form and needs a look in.

The way I look at it, this 16 ( give or take a Tendulkar) are going to be the guys who will represent us in the WC in 2011.

Cheers

SP, I agree with Homer here. I'll stay with this selection through the year. I think that's what you wanted to imply to spectators and fans while exhorting the youngsters to perform.

It's not break for many...John is right...Gambhir and DK are the ones who could be "broken" if they don't have a good series.

Tiwary will be in the scheme of things for a while now...unfortunately his season faded away from a bright start, otherwise I have no doubt he would have been on the team with first rights. Actually, whatever these boys win will be a bonus for the very reasons you mention.

It is that one step closer towards building a capable team. India is in a position now where it can choose from at least twentyfive players. Sure there is a range right now in terms of consistency and quality there but all gains will only narrow that down.
