Gladiator India !!

shared by straight point on Saturday, January 19, 2008

Its all very easy to say lets forget debacles...lets look ahead and forget what happened in past...move on..lets regroup...and start a fresh...lets not get dejected and focus on what lies ahead...

and its another thing leaving all things behind and winning at Perth...

this is the win which makes you value old virtues bit more...

the old virtues of 'winner win despite all adversities'...when everything is stacked against you...your self belief and hard work always pays...that winners don't look at misfortunes as excuses to crib upon...they take them in their stride and WIN...

and what a win India!!

...when nobody gave you any chances...when nobody booked fourth and fifth days tickets fearing waste of money...you had other ideas...

its arguably the greatest test win for india...coming from 2-0 behind...coming after worse that could have happened...at the 'real home of oz'...WINs never tasted better...

there are other issues to discuss...but thats for another post...

lets savior this moment...this win...and join hand in applauding India...and lets which ever part of world you are from not come in the way of true appreciation...

meanwhile...

to the atheist, start finding a place to move to India...

and soulberry...you owe me a drink now...see i am not yet fully drowned by this win...

to symond...

what a moment...'the luck' chose to desert you...

and finally...

"eik aur karega....haan karoonga"
(kumble asking ishant...will you bowl another over? and ishant saying yes will bowl)

you guessed it right, the best moment for me of todays play was how young ishant made veteran ponting finally surrendering his wicket to him...

whats your moment...??

Yes SP..it is not a routine win. it is a win over 16 consecutive wins with broken various records. Great taste...of great moment.

i think ponting’s wicket was the turning point of the match…
thanks buckner and benson ….

of course SP for not standing in the match.....otherwise we were in bad mood and deep sorrow instead of aus

SP, from my mind great moment of the match was gilchrist removal by late comer veeru on his first over after one year and odd days.....

SP, I owe you a drink for sure...Congratulations on two counts! Delhi won too!

PJ Sangwan is also shaping up well.

Happy for Sehwag, Pathan and Sharma. RP is now a strike bowler. India has an attack you can r ely on to pick wickets if the conditions are even sporting...if they are helpful, they are sure to pick up wickets.

Unfortunately, I had to go to Agra yesterday...a former colleague and friend passed away and have just returned.

I have some recordings of the day's play on my compu to look at...but a bit tired right now. Later...

SP you are banned from my blog for suggesting that the waca is the real home of Australia.

SP... now that the party is over, time to get rid of the hangover... Jaffer to be replaced by DK?

Ishant to Ponting was my moment of the match. Teenager to titan: that sums it up for me.

SP,

OK. I'll move to India. Is it difficult for an Englishman to get a visa over there? Or a job?

SB

its really sad to hear about your friend...

all in all it was total team effort and this makes it more special...coz now we are not dependent of individual brilliance to seal a win...and its very healthy sign...

uncle...

if perth is not considered the 'real home' of aussies team than what?

coz everyboday says that sydney and adielade favors more spin...

please lift the ban...uncle...

scorpy

fully agree with you...

if i were selector, i will take bold move and drop dhoni for dk and bring back bhajji for jaffer without actually disturbing the balance of the side...

what you say?

VM

same here...

the atheist

no, i don't think you will find any trouble here...

the only trouble i see is when we will play against england...which side you will root for then?

be careful to ans this coz your visa chance hangs on this ;-)

Congrats, SP.

Undoubtedly, Ricky Ponting's wcket was the turning point, but the build up to it was terrific too. one of the best spell by an Indian fast bowler in recent times.

You now agree that the best thing they did after the Sydney test was to stay back? :)

SP... I wouldn't want to drop Dhoni though... it doesn't make sense as he is the VC tipped to take over shortly for a long period... am speaking from the overall direction of the India heading into the immediate future. Tough call... I give up.
